Villagers have described our community shop as “the heart of the village” and we are proud to provide a service all year, 7 days a week (except Xmas Day). We rely on our fabulous volunteers to keep the shop open for this time.

We are looking for new volunteers to join our enthusiastic and committed team. If you are interested, come along to our drop-in recruitment event this Friday 22 November between 12.30 to 2pm at the Seagrove Pavilion.

If you can’t make it on Friday, call 01983 616487, email [email protected] or pop into the shop and ask about volunteering.

We’d love you to join and help us to provide this much-loved Seaview community service.

Can we mention Christmas cards or is it still too early?

This year we have boxes of cards as well as singles, from Maria Ward, the popular Isle of Wight artist.

We sell books of stamps and pens too so that’s all you need for ticking people off your Christmas card list for 2024.

From tomorrow, Sunday 3 November, we are moving to our off season opening hours. We will be closed on Sunday and Monday afternoons until the Spring.

We are still open seven days a week - from 8.30am to midday every day, and from 4pm to 6pm Tuesdays-Saturdays.

Please continue to support your community shop. We really need your custom at this quiet time of year to make sure we remain viable as a community business.

Do you have a few hours to spare to help your community?

Seaview Village Community Shop urgently needs more volunteers to help run the shop.

If you join our band of friendly, enthusiastic volunteers you will
- meet new people and make friends
- enjoy supporting our vital community enterprise
- work alongside other volunteers and our part time staff
- choose when to participate in the flexible rota
- bring your unique skills and experience to this fun environment.

On Friday 22 November, we are hosting an informal ‘Open House’ event in the Seagrove Pavilion between 12.30 to 2pm.

Please join us for tea, coffee and soft drinks.

Bring a friend along too and learn about this opportunity together. Some volunteers and staff will be there to chat and answer your questions.

If you can’t attend but are still interested in helping out, please contact us on [email protected], call 01983 616487 or pop into the shop and talk to someone.

**NEW SUPPLIER**
We are pleased to announce that we are now stocking large, free range eggs from Hazelgrove Farm. These are laid by hens about three miles from our shop on a farm that, although not certified organic, hasn’t used pesticides for a considerable length of time, and are delivered to us the day after they are laid.

We think they are eggcellent (sorry!) Please let us know how you like yours, whether in the morning, for lunch, tea or at anytime.

We are delighted to announce that we are now a Foodbank collection point. Please donate as much as you can, as there are local people in real need.

The second picture shows what is particularly needed this month, but you can basically donate anything that is in date and not fresh. That generally means tinned and packet goods.

We have a wide range of suitable products in the shop, so you can just choose one or two when you come for your own shopping. We also accept donations of goods bought elsewhere.

Hooray! We’re delighted to say that once again, we have been awarded the highest possible rating of 5 (“very good”). 🥳🥂🎉

Today’s unannounced visit from the Food Standards Agency looked at our handling of food; how food is stored; how food is prepared; cleanliness of facilities; and how food safety is managed.

This top rating is entirely due to the vigilance of our staff and volunteers in following the excellent procedures we have in place.

This is just one of the reasons why we are really proud of our community shop and of all our volunteers and staff.

Come in and see just how great we are!

Did you get a doughnut yesterday on Fat Thursday? Not to worry if not, you have a second chance to try one on Saturday (supplied by our fabulous baker, )

Fat Thursday is celebrated every year in Poland on the Thursday before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent. Apparently you should eat as many as possible and it brings you luck.

Come in on Saturday for a doughnut or three (you want the luck, right?)
