As we are coming to the end of Bordeaux wine Month here's a look at how good the grapes are looking in the Medoc this year

Smallish berries and ripe grapes should lead to a good vintage. Lets see what happens to the 2023 vintage.

September is Bordeaux wine month.

Why not use this opportunity to reacquaint yourself with the great wines of Bordeaux.

Whether its is the Merlot based wines of the right bank - Pomerol, St Emilion, or Fronsac to name a few or the wines from the left bank - Margaux, Medoc, Haut-Medoc etc. If you have a taste for dessert wines then there is always to wines of Sauternes amongst others or then the dry whites from the Entre Deux Mers.

Brouilly Chateau de la Terrier and Papagiannakos's Assyrtiko.

The Brouilly is a lovely slightly fuller style of Beaujolais with depth and richness while the Assyrtiko is fresh and vibrant with lovely citrus notes.

So pop into the shop or order online some delicious Pinot Noirs to celebrate. Such as the Westcott Vineyards Pinot Noir from Canada, the Escarpment Pinot Noir from Martinborough in New Zealand or the Santa Macarena from Chile.

Today is world Verdejo day...

Verdejo is a Spanish white grape variety mainly found in Castilla y Leon region where it is the mainstay grape variety for Rueda whites.

So give it a go this weekend with your BBQ... as it has a lovely fresh style yet aromatic.

The Aguazul is a perfect example of the style.
