CHRISTMAS WITH THE WINE SISTERS 🎄🎅🏼🥂

It’s getting close to party season again, and we will be holding 3 Christmas Evenings. Like last year there will be 2 different types, informal Christmas parties and a Christmas Wine Tasting.

The Christmas Wine Tasting Evening is Tuesday 10th December. 7- 10pm.
£45 per ticket which includes a welcome drink, sharing boards, entertainment and 6 tasting wines.

Christmas Party dates are Wednesday 4th December and Wednesday 18th December.
Tickets are £25 a head and include a welcome drink, sharing boards and entertainment. Additional drinks will be available to buy by the glass (or bottle) on the night.

An evening of music and fine wine

An evening for lovers of music and wine. Damian will be performing Opera favourites, musical theatre classics and swing. There will be intervals throughout the evening to chat and enjoy some of our finer wines and champagnes which will be available to buy by the glass until 10pm.

New wine alert! Azevedo Alvarinho Escolha £16.99

We’ve got 4 new wines in the shop this week and this is one of them. Lots of you will recognise the Azevedo name which has been a firm favourite of mine and wine sister Donna’s for some time, and this is its big sister.

15% of this 100% Alvarinho has been aged in French oak. The oak is so subtle you would barely notice, but it gives the wine extra depth and complexity. It’s creamy and smooth with stone fruit notes. Viognier lovers would really enjoy this. I’m REALLY enjoying this. Recently I’ve been all about the saltier and more mineral wines and have been finding the creamier chardonnays too much, but this is a great balance of fresh but creamy so makes a lovely change for me at the moment without having to go too heavy. Your palate changes all the tjme, you’ve just got to go with it. Slightly annoyed I only bought one bottle of this to Cornwall. Don’t drink it all before I get back!

Thank you to everyone who turned up over the weekend to buy wine from our stall. We so appreciate the local support. Despite the weather it was still a fantastic event that we hope will run for many years. If you can spare a little money to help ensure the festival gets bigger and better then please donate below.

I hope it was a successful weekend for the other local small businesses. We enjoyed delicious food and drink from The Cricketers, Food on wheels, India Gate, Real Belgian Fries, Total Cow, The Ginger Coffee Co and The Barking Barista.

Sunday 9.30 (we’ll be there at 11) until 4pm

This was yesterday. I treated myself to lunch at our old local as it was my last day working round the corner from there. I absolutely LOVE a solo lunch, I find it so calming. I don’t feel uncomfortable, I just people watch, do my diary (paper one like in the 90’s) and earwig other peoples conversations. I highly recommend it. Food, drink and time that’s good for the soul. I had a yummy chicken and potato salad with homemade salad cream, and an organic Verdejo to wash it down. The cheapest wine on the list and absolutely delicious. Well done The Garrison. Wish I’d had longer as there was lots of other wines I’d like to have tried too. I’ll be back. 🥂

P.S the music’s ironic, I absolutely did want to be all by myself

This was taken a few weeks ago when me and the wine sister took our wine mother (she’s more of a tea drinker) to have Sunday lunch in the Cricketers in one of the pods. I can honestly say it was the best roast we’ve had out in a long time, we usually stay in because Claire makes the best roast potatoes and nowhere can usually compete. I’m throughly looking forward to the next time we go back for another one. All washed down with a delicious Chablis, or 2. Thanks for a lovely lunch. We’ll be back very soon 🥂

We’ve been following Muddy Stilettos for years and since having the shop have hoped to be nominated one day for one of their awards celebrating local businesses. So far there hasn’t been an appropriate category….UNTIL NOW! This year they have introduced 4 new categories including Best Wine and Beer specialist. We would be soooo grateful if you could head to their website and nominate The Wine Sisters in this category for Herts and Beds. You can nominate until March 14th, and then if we’ve received enough nominations we will get through to the voting round. 🤞
It’s quick and easy. Please help us get to the next stage.

I saw the brilliant ‘s post yesterday about the Riesling she’d been saving to enjoy with Thai food, and it triggered me to remember how gorgeous our The Den Chenin Blanc is with a Thai Green Curry. So that decided what I was eating/drinking tonight: The clean spice makes the wine taste soo creamy, and a bargain at £12.99.

THE BIG CHRISTMAS TASTING IS BACK 🎄🍷

This weekend from 1pm Friday 1st December until Sunday 5pm we will have our enormous tasting table bursting with over 60 wines for you to try.

We would be so grateful if you would consider supporting your local independent wine shop when you’re shopping for your wine for Christmas this year (and wine for any other time for that matter).

We’re not ticketing the event or charging for it, but instead, we will be collecting donations for the Redbourn Community Food Club who are working hard to help those struggling daily in our village.

We would love you to shop local for your wine this Christmas, and if we can help you with gifts or delivery please contact us and we’ll do our best to help.

As always we’re offering a 10% discount on any mix 12, and 5% on any mix 6. We’re also offering free delivery within a 5 mile radius on orders over £75.
