Where will Megan and the Zero Waste Cafe gang be this week 🌿

On Tuesday we will be in Pirnmill, at Pirnmill Hall from 12 - 2pm. Elsa will also be popping up with a mindfulness session 🧠

On Wednesday we will be in Shiskine, at St Molios from 12 -2pm. We have a Nature Walk leaving St Molios at 11am and finishing up with refreshments at the cafe 🦋

Our cafes are open to everyone, every week we have soup and a selection of cakes on offer as well as our zero waste bulk dispensers, local veggies and fruits, tins and cookbooks.

Yet again customers and business suffer at the hands of CalMac Ferries 😔

Like many other businesses on Arran, I rely heavily on the CalMac freight van ferrying time critical supplies to the island. If all goes to plan I usually have my delivery by 9:15am. Sadly, since the introduction of the summer timetable this has not been the case 😏 on 8 out of 12 occasions CalMac Ferries have neglected to put the freight van on the 7:00am sailing from Ardrossan, citing staffing issues with no-one able to drive the van on to the boat. As a direct consequence, delivery arrives at 12:30pm (9:30pm on one occasion), a full morning of sales is lost and cries for help fall on deaf ears 😭

The Pirnmill, Corrie and Cordon Community Gardens are all holding Open Days this weekend as a part of the Arran Festival of Food and Drink which is being organised by Arran's Food Journey. Come along to the Corrie garden from 11am on Saturday, and Cordon and Pirnmill from 11am on Sunday to learn more about the work being done at these gardens and how the spaces have been transformed over the last few years.

The North Ayrshire Libraries mobile library is back on the road fortnightly from this Monday 🤗

It will be at Pirnmill School between 1145 and 1200 for anyone wishing to jump on for a browse. You can also request books to be collected from the mobile using the North Ayrshire Libraries website or calling the library on 01770 302835 during opening hours:

Tuesday 10-5 (closed 1-2)
Thursday 10-6 (closed 1-2)
Friday 10-5 (closed 1-2)
Saturday 10-1

The mobile is there for all to use. Jump on and see what’s in stock. If it’s not on board you can request it from all the other libraries in North Ayrshire.

A first in Pirnmill but hopefully not the last, be sure to pop along and support it 🤗

We are holding our first pop-up Zero Waste Cafe at Pirnmill Village Hall on Tuesday 11th July from 12-2pm 😀

Come along and have a tasty lunch (delicious soup, bakehouse bread, homebaking and refreshments), stock up on some dry goods (BYO containers), tinned items and local produce and try an ebike!

Our active travel team will be along with some of our ebike fleet so come and have a shot on one. Hope to see you there! 🚴‍♂️
