We always have lovely guests at the Byre and last year I hosted Janet for a little ‘stay and sew’ and it turned into a super fun and chatty couple of days 😬 … turns out we shared a taste in fabric and books and that Janet had written her own book on Lidos in the UK. She had come across my workshops after visiting the outdoor pool at Greystoke and chatting to Annie at Quirky Workshops at Greystoke Craft Garden Barns ☺️

She just sent me a copy of the updated edition of her book for the Byre bookshelf and some gorgeous velvet to play with!

My friends in Penruddock have just converted this little chapel into a two bed holiday let! 😍

Bookings now being taken on Airbnb from September onwards. Come to the Byre of course, but if it’s a two bed you are after, this could be just the thing 😊

Well, that was a longer break than I was anticipating 😂😬 My last post was in 2019, and if Facebook even shows you this post then I will be amazed!! So, if you’re reading this, wow and thank you!!! 😆💗

I thought I might just pop in to say we are, as of today, open for business again! 👏🏻🥳👏🏻

Our first guests arrive later and we are all ready for them - cake made, daffodils picked and the place looks lovely. I would quite like to move in myself 😊

We are fully booked for the summer, I am leaving 48hours between bookings to ensure the place is aired and thoroughly cleaned, so that has reduced the availability a bit, sorry. But people’s plans change and if we get any cancellations I will advertise gaps on here straight away, so you can book a last minute holiday!

The price is the same as it’s always been £60/night and that doesn’t go up during peak times as I’ve always thought that’s weird. Its the same place, with the same facilities? But thats probably why I will never be any good at business! Anyway, it keeps things simple.

Guests who leave me ‘thank you chocolate‘ are absolutely my favourite kind 😋 ... it was lovely to see you back at the Byre Sarah and Craig, thank you and hope to see you again☺️

It was a speedy turnaround today, with more guests arriving this afternoon. The chocolate brownies are made and I found some peas in the garden - perfect straight from the pod! 💚

New guests arriving today - the house smells of chocolate brownies and I just managed to find a few flowers in the garden for the bedroom. My sweet peas were rubbish this year, entirely my fault (I am rubbish at gardening) so finding three tiny sweet pea flowers this morning made me happy!

The actual peas for eating however are looking very promising - a few more days and they will be ready! Next weeks guests might get a bowl full, if the children don’t get there first! 💚

Late summer sunshine 🍂🍃🍂

We have guests arriving today, I hope they find us 😄 This is the view from the Byre looking up the drive! We are disappearing into the trees at the moment!

Its a perfect hideaway for those wanting peace and quiet ... and bank robbers on the run. It would be perfect for them too ... 😁

It's been AGES since I posted on here - the garden has now reached full 'jungle' level, but this apple tree outside the bedroom patio door is making me smile it's so beautiful 🍏

We've been really busy with lots of lovely guests 😊 and pretty much been booked up all summer, which is amazing! I love all the comments and feedback we get too, so thank you. 😊

Today's review is very honest, so here's what Katie had to say about the Byre ...

"All in all I've got say what a terrible 10th wedding anniversary we've had here at the Byre. The view from the bedroom is so beautiful we didn't get half the walking done that we had planned and I'm pretty sure you've turned JP into a bird watcher! It's so peaceful and quiet that we slept for 12 hours straight and didn't watch any of the films we'd downloaded onto the iPad... We were hoping not to hear from the kids but thanks to wifi we were still connected to the outside world. The decor is so beautiful I now have to go home and redecorate my whole house! Don't even get me started on the brownies, you've completely ruined my diet! Same time next year?! 😄"
