Please please please.....if you have time, comment on the report on Cornwall Live regarding the closing of thr toilets. The more comments that are received, the more chance there is of Cornwall Council listening.

Cornwall Council has stopped funding the running of the busy toilet block and the parish council can't afford to allow people to spend a penny there

ARE YOU FREE TOMORROW AT 12:30PM?

Cornwall council are no longer going to contribute to the running costs of the toilets in Porthcothan car park - the Parish Council can't afford to keep them open solely from the 20p's collected from their use, so next summer the toilets will be closed.

This will affect everyone and we need as many people as possible to show up at 12:30pm tomorrow in the carpark as Cornwall Live are coming to do a report.

Please help if you can 🙏

We will close our doors at 4pm Sunday 3rd Novemeber to end another great season. The shelves are a little bare, but we still have plenty of coffee for those of you that need your last fix of the year.

LOIS GRACE STRONGMAN
Known to many as ‘Grace’, passed away peacefully on the 17th October at Treliske Hospital, aged 82 of Porthcothan Bay. Beloved sister to Amelia, much loved friend of Arthur and Dotti, loving godmother of Penny and Stewart, Granny Grace to Grace, James and Michael. Funeral service to take place at St Eval Parish Church on Friday 15th November at 2:00 p.m. Family flowers only, donations in memory of Grace for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association can be made online via Memory Giving, by retiring collection or c/o R. It is with great sadness that I am writing to inform you that Grace Strongman passed away on Wednesday at the age of 82.

Grace was as much a part of Porthcothan as Will’s Rock and it will be very strange to think of the future without her. Her grandparents founded and ran the village shop many years ago and they were followed by her parents whom many will remember (I certainly do) and Grace duly took over when they retired, ran the shop and post office by herself for a long time, living of course in the family home Beach Cottage, until she decided to retire and sold the business and house to Bob and Maggie Wyatt. She moved just down the road to her bungalow where she has lived ever since and in due course gave unstinting help and advice to Barney and Emma when they took over the shop nine years ago.

In her time, Grace was probably the greatest living expert on Porthcothan, its history and those whose lives have been part of it. She never ceased to amaze me with her knowledge which she was always happy to pass on and, if necessary, correct your recollections (it often was) and if you ever wanted to know how, why or when something had occurred in Porthcothan , Grace was the person who would know. She was generous with her time and support and would always be happy to help anyone in any situation.

Porthcothan will never be quite the same without her and she will be greatly missed.

It's that time of year again when we have to start saying goodbye to some of our amazing team. To thank them all properly, we will be closing the shop early on Sunday afternoon and taking them all out.

The shop will close at 2:30pm on Sunday 15th September.

We are sorry for any inconvenience and hope you all understand.

This is heartbreaking to read, Nellie sadly had to be put to sleep this morning. Anyone with any info please get in contact. An apology will not bring Nellie back but it's the least Kim and her family deserve 💔

We are desperately hoping that whoever the owner of the dog is comes forward. If you are said owner and were staying with us do the decent thing as the owner and just come forward or please if you saw anything let us know x Kim Hayward Amy Rosalie

It's amazing got wind of coming to cover the 'fishing net card machine' story and miraculously found an engineer to come out a week earlier than planned to fix their mess!

Not the most ideal way to take card payments on a busy hot summers day, but when BT accidentally shut down your phone line and Internet, it's the only way to get any signal for the card machines!!

Not sure when we will be back up and running properly, but if you can bring cash with you over the next couple of days that would be great....save Sam melting away!! 🥵
