Last night we had our AGM meeting at St Peter’s Hall. We were delighted to see some 38 people in attendance. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces, with one or two new ones! Following a full report from our Chair Alison, we were lucky to have Ryan from Cadence Accounting who explained our accounts in more detail. Then, local David Bell spoke so eloquently about how the Stores came about 25 years ago....

These three ARE Limpsfield Memorial Stores and have made it what it is. But after 25 years Kari, John and Jenny are stepping down from the committee (you'll still see them around!) We can't thank them enough for everything they have done to keep this community store going.

Being our Post Master at the Post Office for many years, John still volunteers to this day. John is a very familiar face in the village and has helped the store become what it is today..

"I volunteered when we first went into lockdown in 2020. We had just moved and were still doing up our house and decided to do what everyone else was doing in lockdown which was volunteering. I'd heard that the store needed some help whilst people were shielding and thought how hard could it be! I enjoyed it so much I became part of the committee within the year. I thoroughly enjoy it, engaging with the community but because it's a voluntary position, it allows you to do what you want and not being dictated to by a big organisation is an added bonus!"

Bridget's favourite items are the Weald Smokery meats and Cure and Cure Cheeses.

I moved to Oxted with my husband in 1999 and have lived in the village for 20 years. I started volunteering at the Woodhouse Centre and after a few years, Lorna Edser suggested it would be a good time to start volunteering at the Limpsfield Memorial Stores. For those that know Lorna it was more of an instruction than a request but one I am very pleased to have taken. It has proved a lovely way to meet and to get to know fellow villagers and I think we are really very lucky to have such a great store in the village.

My favourite items would definitely be the fig biscuits and vintage cheddars."

"We moved to Limpsfield in November 2019. By March 2020 we were in lockdown and, apart from a couple of neighbours and our family, we knew no one. We quickly discovered Memorial Stores and immediately joined the long queue of locals buying bread, milk, eggs etc. What a lifeline. I met Kari whilst in that queue and was persuaded (not too difficult!) to join the volunteers. Such a friendly crew and I’ve enjoyed many friendly chats with the residents ever since. I also really enjoy looking after the Stores garden with fellow volunteer Sue."
