As a company full of wine nerds, we were absolutely delighted when Julia Harding MW got in touch to tell us that she and Jancis Robinson MW were giving a talk at The Oxford Literary Festival to celebrate the publication of the new edition of The Oxford Companion to Wine. At this fascinating talk, we heard about the origins of this seminal work, and the journey from first through to fifth edition.
A talk about wine wouldnât be complete without a glass of something delicious, and we were delighted to help with three different wines, selected by our esteemed speakers from the OWC range.
Each wine was chosen for its link to entries in the book, which were explained as we tasted.
đ· Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc 2022 was the best kind of Marlborough Sauvignon â vibrant, tropical and ever-so-slightly smoky.
đ· Zuccardi Apelacion Cabernet Franc 2019 from Paraje Altamira, Mendoza, was ripe and balanced, maturation in concrete barrels and large old foudre giving the palate roundness and texture.
đ·ChĂąteau des Carles Fronsac 2018, from Bordeaux â a 100% Merlot which, while tasting great now, we thought would age very well for several years.
