We are proud to be supporting Mental Health Organisation. This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re supporting the Mental Health Foundation to get everyone moving more for their mental health.

Everyone can get the mental health benefits of moving more, it’s all about finding what works for you. Whether that’s a going to the gym, going for a run or meeting up with friends and taking the dogs out.

When life’s busy, it can be tricky finding time for wellbeing-boosting activities. But finding moments for movement might be easier than you think. Why not use the time you spend waiting to move more? When you’re waiting for the kettle to boil; for your kids to come out of school; or for a bus to arrive. These moments will add up!

Get involved by sharing your moments for movement for your mental health.

Our Story

The Border Reiver has a well established pedigree. There has been a shop on this very site since the 1930’s. Ever since the original Carter Cafe now The Border Reiver has endeavoured to to constantly expand, modernise and to offer the customers of the day exactly what they need.

The Shop stocks a large range of groceries including fresh fruit & vegetables, and local meat, cheese and dairy. We also have a full off license and sell to***co, Eliquids. We are also a national lotto outlet.

Our cafe is small but perfectly formed. Decorated in a modern industrial style with tables made of reclaimed pallet wood. We have only 14 covers but we offer a great range of classic British food. With a breakfast to die for. From steak burgers, homemade quiche and homemade tray bakes and real bean to cup coffees. friendly (if not slightly cheeky service) and always welcoming. The cafe has a table license, which means that alcohol can be purchased to consume with a main meal.

Takeaway food is also available.
