IT’S CHRISTMAS EVE! 🎄😃🍷
From 12-8.30pm we’ll be open for your last minute wine and present buying needs; there will be some tasty tipples open for you to try in the shop; our bar will be open for your Christmas Eve drinks; there will be mulled wine and other Christmassy hot drinks for you to drink in or take away…. AND at around 6pm we’ll be joined outside the shop by the Barrett Family Brass Band for some lovely Christmassy tunes!

NEW WINE TASTING EVENTS 📣.
Lots of you have been asking us about what’s on the calendar for January and February, so here we go!
We haven’t had chance to get a newsletter out or put these on our website yet but if you have any questions about the events, just ask.
As always, please either phone up or pop in to book and pay for tickets.
One of our wine tastings would make a great Christmas present and we have wine tasting vouchers that can be put under the tree or handed over on the big day. You can either buy a voucher and let the recipient choose and book their tasting or you can book them onto one of the events yourself.
We’re open from 12-8.30pm today and tomorrow for all of your last minute Christmas shopping needs.

If you’re looking for a real top quality, classic Rioja this Christmas, we’d highly recommend this 2017 vintage from (£30.99).
These guys don’t use the traditional Rioja ageing categories (the limitations of which we won’t go into here), so it’s a ‘Vino Tinto’’ but the quality of the wine speaks for itself…
Super fresh and juicy at the same time: blackberry and black cherry compote, a dash of cream, savoury hints of to***co leaf and a lovely long, juicy finish. Delicious!
We’ve also got their 2004 vintage on our shelves at £69.99. We haven’t tried it ourselves yet but are looking forward to doing so if there’s any left when we close at 20.30 on Christmas Eve!

Brigitte Bordeaux first opened its doors and started selling wine to the good folk of Sherwood and beyond on 14th December 2018! 🍷
To celebrate our 6th birthday, we have live music this evening from three great local acts….
Kicking things off at 5.30pm, we’ve got the brilliantly talented . At 7pm, BB favourites, Forest Fields are back to play for us once again. And from 9pm, we’ll be joined by with a bluesy, jazzy, Christmassy set to see us through to the end of the party.
We’ll be pouring Champagne by the glass and every customer in the bar and shop from midday until closing time will be invited to enter a free prize draw with the chance to win a bottle of Brunello di Montalcino from Brigitte’s birth year, 2018.
We’d love to see you. 😊

Things have been getting festive here at Brigitte Bordeaux this week. 🎄
Thank you to everyone who attended our Christmas Fair on Sunday; if you placed an order, your wines will be winging their way to you very soon…
We have had to order in a load more of the Rum Bar Rum Cream to meet demand and I’m sure we’ll have it open to taste in the shop in the run up to Christmas so hold off on buying any other type of cream liqueur until you’ve tried it!
Last night saw our last tasting of 2024 as we got stuck into the ‘Festive Fortifieds’. Port, Sherry and Madeira were all flowing along with some other lesser known delights including a 5-year old white Pineau des Charentes (we also stock the red); a Moscatel de Setúbal fortified with Armagnac and an Argentinian fortified Malbec. All delicious and all available to taste in the shop for the next day or two. 😊
We’ll be ramping up the festivities this weekend with the return of our mulled wine cart and with some 6th birthday celebrations and live music all through the evening on Saturday. Watch this space for more details.

Also returning to our shelves is the lovely ‘Christmas’ Tokaji Late Harvest - perfect with a mince pie!

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week for our three back-to-back Festive Fizz tastings.
All 8 wines got plenty of votes across the three nights for Wine of the Evening.

Lots of fun hosting a wine tasting for this group of MBA students from last night.
The tasting culminated with a wine-off to settle a long standing debate between the two professors (from Argentina and Chile) as to whose homeland makes the best wine. After the wines had been tasted blind and voted for by the students, it was a narrow victory for Chile. 🇨🇱
