Next Thursday (Beaujolais Nouveau Day), we’re teaming up with to bring you Sherwood’s very own Beaujolais Run!
Your £30 ticket gets you four different Beaujolais Nouveau wines (2 glasses in each venue) each served with a small French themed snack. Délicieux!
Grab your ticket at either venue and come join the fun.
The event will run all day from 2pm-10pm. Running between venues is not compulsory.

SHERRY WEEK IS HERE! Our favourite time of year. 😊
We’re massive fans of a Fino; it’s a great type of vino,
But nothing makes our cheeks glow, quite like an Oloroso.
Yet one of our favourites, when it starts to flow, is definitely Amontiado … or maybe Palo Cortado.
Whenever we have a Manzanilla, it makes us smile from ear to ear and fills us full of sherried cheer.
With its dose of sugar, PX is good for the cerebral cortex.
And please don’t forget Medium and Cream, pairing with food like a dream.
So three cheers for every type of Sherry!
And their ability to make us all happy. 😊
As you can tell from the above, we’ve already been on the Sherry. 😂 Solely in the interests of assessing the success of the pictured pairings, of course.
We can confirm they all meet our stringent flavour compatibility standards…
But don’t take our word for it, come down and try them for yourself!

We’re excitedly getting ready for at Brigitte Bordeaux.
All next week, we’ll have a range of great sherries open to taste in the shop and drink by the glass in the bar. We’ll be serving sherry flights and perfect food pairings to go with each different style.

Looking forward to tasting this 1984 Coteaux du Layon, amongst other wines, at tonight’s ‘Wine & Literature’ tasting.
This 40 year-old wine from Moulin Touchais would not only make a great gift for fans of George Orwell, it would also be perfect for anyone celebrating a 40th birthday or other 40-year anniversary this year …. and it’s only £33.99 a bottle.

Thank you to Robert from and Michele of for a great wine tasting yesterday evening.
Michele shared a range of wines that produce in the Verona and Lake Garda area of northern Italy.
Lots of different favourites amongst our guests, but the Colle Dei Tigli, Ripasso and Amarone went down particularly well.
We have a few of the wines open to taste in the shop today so if you missed the tasting, come down and give them a try!

Leading psychic, Alex Beattie is back at Brigitte Bordeaux for another day of ‘Wine & Tarot’ on Saturday 26th October.
We’re taking bookings throughout the day from 12.30pm until 10pm. Each reading is 30 minutes. The price is £30 which includes a glass of wine.

When we heard that esteemed wine expert, had described this wine as ‘probably the best value Chardonnay I’ve ever tasted’, we decided we had to get our hands on some. (N.B. That’s wine writer and contributing editor, Matt Walls, and not BB’s own, slightly less esteemed, slightly less expert, Matt Wallis; although of course, we do also take his wine opinions VERY seriously.)
After trying one or two bottles (just to be sure), we concur that this is probably the best Chardonnay you can buy for £25!
If you’d like to find out more about this beautiful South African Chardonnay, head to the website of where Richard Kelley MW (who is responsible for its existence) tells the detailed story of its conception much better than I could attempt to recount here.

Happy Pinotage Day! 🍇
Not only is today International Pinotage Day, but this year marks 100 years since the grape variety was created in South Africa by Stellenbosch University’s first professor of viticulture, Abraham Izak Perold.
Perold crossed Cinsault (also known as Hermitage) with Pinot Noir in his garden in 1924 and ended up creating the grape variety we now know as Pinotage!
We’re a bit late to the Pinotage party, but since Sebastian from shared his brilliant Pinotage wines with us at our tasting last month, we’re fully on board!
You can currently drink the 2019 Jackals River Pinotage by the glass in our bar and we strongly recommend you do… Beautiful juicy bramble fruit with a touch of savoury spice, fresh acidity and soft tannins: delicious!

November tastings are the usual price of £32 per person.
The Festive Fizz and Festive Fortifieds tastings are at the slightly higher price of £37 per person to account for the higher priced wines and some additional festive foodie fare!
Tickets to the Christmas Fair are £20 - choose the 1-3pm or 3-5pm time slot.

Elisha chose a Sicilian theme for her hen party wine tasting yesterday.
We kicked off with a sparkling Carricante from Etna before tasting our way through a Grillo, Fiano, Etna Bianco, Etna Rosso, and two Nero d’Avolas and finishing with a Marsala Superiore Dolce served with Sicilian cannoli.

Last night we tasted our way through 8 wines from top Uruguayan producer .
Bodega Garzón is a family-owned winery in Maldonado, on the Atlantic coast in southern Uruguay. They pioneered viticulture in this area over 10 years ago and have since become the standard-bearer for premium Uruguayan wines. In November 2018, their pioneering status was recognised by Wine Enthusiast with the ‘New World Winery of the Year’ award.
With a terroir perfectly suited to the production of premium wines; precision viticulture; a world-class sustainable winery and the help of world leading wine consultant, Alberto Antonini, it’s no surprise that Bodega Garzón has become something of an icon and is repeatedly named in lists of the world’s top wine producers.
Our guests’ overall favourite wines on the night were the Reserve Albariño, the Reserve Marselan and the Single Vineyard Tannat.
With a similar Atlantic influence to Albariño’s homeland of Galicia, this expression of the grape from Uruguay’s Maldonado region has all of the freshness of the best Galician examples with ripe stone fruit notes and an underlying minerality. It has bright acidity complemented by a slight creaminess from time spent on the lees.
Marselan is a grape variety that was created in France in the 1960s by crossing Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache; in 2021 it was named as one of the seven grape varieties to be newly permitted in Bordeaux. This Uruguayan example is full of red fruit with herbaceous notes, fine tannins and a long mineral finish.
Tannat, which is Basque in origin, has become Uruguay’s flagship variety and accounts for about a quarter of the country’s plantings. This Single Vineyard example is perfect for this time of year: full bodied with lots of fresh dark fruits, mocha and velvety tannins.
