Day 1 Embassy Suite Chicago
You will arrive at Chicago Airport where you will pick-up your vehicle. Once you have checked-in to your hotel you are free to take a first glimpse of the โWindy Cityโ.
Day 2 Embassy Suite Chicago
Today you will have a free day to explore the city! Take a stroll along the lakefront of Lake Michigan or discover Chicagoโs museums. Spend the afternoon relaxing in Lincoln or Millennium Park or go on a shopping spree at the luxurious Magnificent Mile. Finish the night with live music at one of the many and historic jazz clubs.
Day 3 Holiday Inn Springfield
Hit the road on the world-famous Route 66 (Pontiac, IL and Mc Lean, IL). Keep an eye out for the roadside attractions and drive-in on your way to Springfield Illinois.
Day 4 Best Western Route 66 Rail Haven
Continue through the picturesque countryside of Missouri, to reach the city of Springfield, recognized as the birthplace of Route 66 in 1926. Be sure to stop at Meramec Caverns near Stanton, MO.
Day 5 Comfort Inn Oklahoma
Today you will cut through the south eastern corner of Kansas before you enter the rolling pastures of Oklahoma. Take a picture of the Blue Whale in Catoosa, OK, one of the most popular icons on historic Route 66. Upon arrival in Tulsa, why not visit the Gilcrease Museum.
Day 6 Comfort Inn Oklahoma
Enjoy the capital of Oklahoma today. Spend a couple of nights here and enjoy a full day discovering some of the cityโs many cultural attractions. Visit the Route 66 Vintage Iron Motorcycle Museum and the historic Coleman Theatre. Oklahoma is also the gateway to cowboy country so what could be a better introduction to the โWild Westโ than an optional visit to the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
Day 7 Best Western Plus Grande Inn
Bid farewell to Oklahoma City today and on your exit you will visit the โofficialโ Route 66 Museum to learn about the legends surrounding the road youโre travelling on, and make a short stop at Lucilleโs Service Station & Roadhouse. After travelling past lots of open stretches of land and over the border into Texas, you will finally arrive into Amarillo.
Day 8 Best Western Plus Grande Inn
Before leaving Amarillo, be sure to visit the Cadillac Ranch, the famous public art installation. Then enjoy a long drive through the wide American roads to Albuquerque.
Day 9 El Rancho Hotel
Drive along the Rio Puerco Valley to Inscription Rock, a cliff face at El Morro National Monument where you can observe Native American petroglyphs. Cross the Continental Divide en route to Gallup
Day 10 Canyon Plaza Hotel
Enter Arizona and visit the Petrified Forest National Park to see the different colours of rock layered on top of each other. Pass through Winslow, then head North to the Grand Canyon, the ultimate symbol of the Desert Southwest and a spectacle not to be missed. Itโs not on the original Route 66, but itโs so close it would be a crime to not stop! Explore the park at your own pace.
Day 11 Luxor Hotel Las Vegas
Revel in the sights and sounds of Las Vegas today, or simply catch a few desert rays at the hotel pool. Why not catch one of the top shows this evening.
Day 12 LA Miyako Hotel
Follow Route 66 across the great Mojave Desert to the city of Los Angeles. Along the way visit Calico Ghost Town. Cross the San Bernardino Mountains and enter the sprawling metropolis of Los Angeles. This is where Route 66 becomes Santa Monica Boulevard, winding its way through Hollywood and Beverly Hills and ends at the Santa Monica Boardwalk and the Pacific Ocean.
Day 13 LA Miyako Hotel
Spend today relaxing or exploring Los Angeles and the surrounding area. You may like to check out Santa Barbara or Redondo Beach, or cruise around the sights of Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
Day 14
Your adventure of a lifetime ends today. Youโll check out of your hotel and return your car to Los Angeles airport, before your return flight home.
