Hourlier Wines We are an exclusively French wine merchant based in Melbourne Derbyshire, specialising in providing premium-quality French wines from independent vineyards.

Since 1975, our aim has been to offer the discerning UK consumer a variety of the finest wines from quality small independent wine producers. We have traveled throughout France, seeking out lesser-known wines of superior quality - and because we are French by birth, nature and inclination, we've been able to discover many wines that other wine-merchants are simply not told about by French producer

Last week was the last Friday night tasting of the year! 🍷✨ We're so glad that everyone enjoyed the sparkling wine theme, and were happy to finish with some truly special bottles for the incoming festive season. 🍾
We're still opened until Christmas eve for all your wine needs, and before NYE.

🍇 Grenache is a versatile grape, with vibrant flavours such as ripe raspberry and smooth tannins. While it makes refreshing rosés, today we are presenting you the red wine 'Que du Grenache'. It is an organic wine from the Languedoc, made by passionate winemakers in Villa Dondona. It pairs beautifully with grilled meat, spicy dishes, or even just a simple cheese platter. We received it in spring and it has become a new favourite of the Hourlier Wines Team since. An absolute must-try! 🍷

Discover Bordeaux Clairet!🍷More depth than a typical rosé, but not as intense as red, it's perfect for a versatile food pairing or just to enjoy with company! Traditionally made from red grape varieties, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, it has notes of red berries and subtle tannins.🍇 Historically, Clairet was a popular wine among the British aristocracy in the 18th century, and today it is experiencing a resurgence with its wonderful history. Did you know that Cabernet Sauvignon is a natural cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc? Ir originates from Aquitaine, a region in the South West of France that includes Bordeaux. This timeless classic embodies the flavours of the various terroirs where it is grown, from the famous chateaux of Bordeaux to the sunny vineyards of the Languedoc.🍷 With dark fruit notes, silky tannins, character and complexity, it is amongst the preferred grapes for ageing wines. In Dolio has a singularity: vinificated in a Georgian technique, with whole clusters in Dolia (amphoras), it gives a truly unique wine, made with the Marsanne grape.
In Dolio is a collaboration between Pierre Gaillard and the Gallo-Roman museum of Saint-Romain-en-Gal-Vienne. It has a fruity nose, apricot notes, a round mouth, and is beautifully fresh. The tannins are present but soft and harmonious. A wine to try! ✨

🏰🍇 On another of our vineyard adventures, we had the exciting opportunity to visit an English wine producer nestled amidst the picturesque vineyards of Southern France, at the Villa Dondona. There, on the hill, stands a majestic castle, and among the vines adorned with fossils from ancient times, we're reminded of the timeless connection between land and wine.
Surrounded by this breathtaking panorama, every sip of wine becomes a journey through time and terroir. 🍷
