Due to high demand, Sourdough Dave has had to limit his range and quantity that he can supply the shop. Therefore we will have to limit customers to 1 loaf per customer. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Hopefully in the New year Dave is hoping to return to normal quantities and varieties

The Shop is in full swing with preparations for Christmas, and we proudly present this year's Christmas Shop window. This stunning masterpiece featuring, our own marvellously detailed Market Hall and witty character humour (there are some good jokes in the scenes), was designed and crafted by the talented duo; Ali Carter and Jean Dugmore. It’s brilliant and worth a detour to see it.
Also out today is the Shop Christmas poster advertising the fact that we are open for fun and frolics on Christmas Day.

Today’s Christmas shopping event was a great success, thanks to our fantastic Shop Managers, staff and Gwen who kept us topped up with tasty mulled wine, aiding the festive spirit.
We had some really interesting food, drink and gifts exhibited. Anita’s Kitchen Groove was particularly popular showcasing a really interesting selection of South African rusk style biscuits. If you are out and about Anita can also be found at Wirksworth and Ashbourne markets.
Thanks to the residents and visitors who attended, making the event worthwhile and enjoyable for everyone.
It’s not too late to order items. Speak to the Managers or staff who will be delighted up take your requirements. 🎁

Now ready for the Christmas event. Please feel free to pop along 😊😊

You’ve used the Borrow Bags, bought the buy bags, and now we have Bottle Bags. Just like our other bags, Bottle bags are hand made in Winster for the Shop. We have a selection of different seasonal fabrics with Christmassy tape ties, ideal for wrapping bottles as presents. Bottle bags and buy bags will be on sale at the Christmas shopping event in the Shop next Thursday. (Bottles not included ☹️, so why not buy some from our great selection of wines and spirits supplied by Hattersley’s of Bakewell 😊)

Thank you to everyone who turned up for the calendar photo shoot today ! I will send a couple of the pictures to be considered in the selection (tomorrow) for the 2025 calendar. I will also send some of the pictures to Rachel for issuing to her Winster Shop Volunteer email list 😊

30/10/2024

Good Morning all,

Alistair (Chair of the WVSA Board) would like to send a group photo of the shop staff and volunteers as an entry for this year's Winster Calendar.

As many of you know, the calendar raises money for the shop and has done for many years.

It is very short notice but we would like to have a short photo shoot (no more than ten minutes) at 12.30 this coming Friday, 1st November, outside the shop. I am aware some of you are away and likely to be busy but if as many people as possible could come along and join us on Friday that would be fab!

Please mention it to any volunteers you know (in case I have missed them off this email!). The more the better.

Thanks so much
Rachel

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
(Macbeth)
