"A superb example from the grape's heartland of Rias Baixas in north-west Spain. It captures the pure, concentrated fruit and lipsmacking freshness that makes this grape so appealing. I'd enjoy it with a plate garlicky langoustines."
2️⃣ Soalheiro, Alvarinho 2022/23 £21.00
The Soalheiro Vineyards were established in 1974 overlooking the river Minho and since then this very special terroir has allowed Soalheiro to forge it's reputation as the finest producer of Alvarinho in the country. Their flagship wine is often quoted as the standard bearer for this variety in Portugal.
3️⃣ Vila Jardim Alvarinho 2022 £14.50
"I love Albarino, and this example from Tejo is has a lovely floral character and crisp acidity that pairs beautifully with seafood, particularly a classic Portuguese dish like grilled sardines."

🤩 Which Riesling Would Our Buyer Choose?
We put the question to Nic our fantastic buyer, who does an incredible job at selecting the most perfect wines. Read below & find out why these Rieslings are his top picks! 👇
"My go-to Riesling is this dry one, trocken in German, from the Pfalz region. It's simply delicious, full of zingy apples and it comes from people we love. Sadly Stephan Schwerdt has left us last year but Thomas Hanewald is still leading the charge and doing a beautiful job.
Next up would be this "Feinherb" style from Axel Pauly Feinherb means off-dry. Basically a wine that has more sugar content than your typical dry wine. Having said that, Riesling is really high in acidity so the wine doesn't feel sweet at all. It all makes sense when you sip it I promise you and well worth a try.
Last but not least, our most classic German wine of all and brand new to the range, the Auslese from Paul Schunk in the Mosel. From a 400 years old family-owned estate, this is a sweeter style of Riesling and the alcohol here is lower too at 9.6%. Sweet Riesling might trigger some of you but one must look past the outdated preconceptions and rediscover this fantastic style of wine, tastes like gold I tell thee."

🇺🇸 Born in the USA! 🇺🇸
Today is American Independence Day and we thought we’d share 3 of our favourite American wine producers starting with:
1️⃣ Hoopes Vineyard - a small, family-owned winegrower and producer with deep roots in Napa Valley. First vineyard was planted in 1981 and first vintage was in 1984. The first vintage under Hoopes Vineyard was 1999.
💡Tip: try the Hoopes, Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2016/17 it finishes with cocoa and espresso notes, biscuit and dark chocolate. chocolate_bar
2️⃣ Scheid Family Wines - Al Scheid first saw untapped potential in Monterey County in 1972 when the wine region was in its infancy. Scheid Family Wines estate vineyards have been certified sustainable since 2014 and its estate winery since 2018 through the Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing program.
💡Tip: The Scheid Family - Ranch 32 Pinot Noir pairs well with roast pork or salmon. fish
3️⃣ Avalon wines - named after the legendary Isle of Avalon, a place steeped in history and tradition. As Avalon wines are made the winemaker melds ancient winemaking techniques with modern technology.

🇩🇪The family owned and operated estate Hanewald-Schwerdt was founded in 1955 in Leistadt. Today, Thomas Hanewald & Stephan Schwerdt took over the family buisness which was established by their grandfather. The two cousins focus on Riesling and Pinot Noir.
🤫The secret of their handcrafted wines is a unique limestone reef which dominates all the sites arround Leistadt. A hidden treasure away off the beaten track. The vines are old and surrounded by a protected resort in the shade of the Haardt mountains.

We're all a bit sore and stiff here in the office after completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge on Sunday. In case you're wondering, we've not gone fitness mad - but have been busy raising more than £4,000 for our chosen community partner -
It was a very early 3.30am alarm to travel up to the picturesque village of Horton-in Ribblesdale, where we put on our walking boots and waterproofs for the big hike ahead and a soggy 6.30am start.
All in all it was a real team effort, taking 13 hours, over 60,000 steps and 40km. We're so proud of everyone who took part, the last scramble was HARD, and the thought of a refreshing ginger beer shandy kept us going the last 5km. It was so worth it!
We're even more grateful for everyone who has donated so far. It was a tough challenge (fuelled a LOT of sugar and sweets), but it's even tougher not being able to afford the weekly food shop.
