Honorary Manc Alan Turing was born on this day in 1912. 🖥️🌈

He cracked the enigma code which shortened WW2 by two years, saving over 14 million lives. His efforts at the time were widely disregarded due to the 20th-century attitude to homosexuality. In 2013, the ‘Alan Turing Law’ was passed which officially pardoned those convicted of same-sex relationships.

Each year on this day, people from Reddit1 honor his birthday by surrounding his Sackville Gardens statue with flowers. Since 2013, they have raised over £12,700 for the bloody ace , who use video games and technology to enhance the quality of life of people with disabilities.

mint work Lidl GB 😂😂

Lidl has unveiled a blue plaque to commemorate Liam Gallagher nearly playing a gig there 😂

The plaque sits on the wall of the Newton Heath store, near the Co-op Live, a nod to their previous offer to the former Oasis frontman.

When the new arena had teething issues at opening, the budget supermarket stepped in to offer Liam a new venue for his Definitely Maybe anniversary tour.

Fortunately, Co-op Live is now up and running ahead of the gigs this weekend, so Lidl's offer wasn't needed in the end.
