Oxva NeXLIM review 👓

I've been testing this device for about 4 weeks as we waited for their release. So here's my thoughts on the newest Oxva offering using the 0.6ohm pod.

It's no secret how much I love a Xlim device, so when this device landed on my desk I was a bit skeptical about it's bigger size and the fact that it takes a completely different pod. Could they really beat the much loved xlim pod? Turns out that the answer is a big fat yes!

The first thing to note is that this device can be used in 2 modes which you can switch between by clicking the power button twice.

Eco 🌍
This works much the same as the usual parameters, with wattage in the 20-24watt range for the 0.6ohm pod.

Boost ⚡️
This is a much higher wattage. All the way up to 40 watts on the 0.6ohm pod.

The Pod Review 🖊
When I first put the pod in, the device was already set to Boost, and it automatically set the wattage to 38watts. The flavour was incredible and it's a much warmer v**e, which I hadn't realised how much I missed that from the days of sub ohming. But, because I didn't know when I'd get another pod, I turned it down to 30 watts (click the power button 3 times) which, thankfully, didn't change the flavour. I still didn't really think I'd get much life out of the pod at that wattage, but I can report that I'm on the same pod 4 weeks later with very little change to flavour and no burning! (Although it's getting a little slurpy now 😂) As you can see from my screen, that's a staggering 11,000 + puffs and still going!

I did try Eco mode, but in all honesty, the higher wattage is such perfect flavour for me that I struggled to stay there and quickly changed it back! I think the standard for the 0.6 pod is around 24 watts and that much be just enough for you. Especially if this is your first v**e or you're on a higher strength ni****ne as Boost may be a bit too much.

The pod is side fill like most of us are used to with Oxva, so no big changes there. But as mentioned above these pods DO NOT fit the xlim devices, so you will need all new pods to enjoy.

The Battery Review 🖊
Again, with such a high wattage, I didn't have high hopes for an all day v**e, but I am only charging it once a day and it charges up super quick, so Im not without it for long. 1500mAh seems to be just enough to not get caught short when I'm out. But as always, it will depend how heavily you use it. I only notice a drop in performance when the battery gets down to about 10%. Which is good in some respects, but could catch you by surprise if you haven't checked it before going out.

It's a USB C type connection, so no change to charging. Although this device was a bit stubborn with a trickle charge and sometimes won't accept the current v**e plugs that we sell because it wants a bit more power. I'm guessing this has been done deliberately to mitigate people charging on incorrect plugs, but I've asked Phil to look further into this. I will stress that this has only happened twice in 4 weeks and could just be isolated to my device and our recommendation is still to use the lowest possible output when charging your v**e.

The Device Review 🖊
As mentioned, it's bigger than the Xlim. This was a bit off putting at first, but I quickly adjusted to the size and weight. Oxva are the masters of design when it comes to making it fit comfortably in your hand and if being slightly bigger is the price for battery life and flavour, I'll take it. It also feels sturdy and well made, with some very cool colour combinations.

There are 3 different screen modes selectable by clicking the power button 4 times. Two of these modes display the usual battery, ohm, puff counter, wattage. And the 3rd mode just displays the wattage and a little tamogochi style face. I like to see what's going on, so the 3rd mode was a no for me, but might be your thing.

Summary 🖊
I don't really have many bad words to say about the new NeXLIM. It has honestly exceeded my expectations in flavour and battery life. I haven't put it down in favour of another device for the last 4 weeks and can't see me parting with it anytime soon. My poor Xlims have been retired for now and that is a pretty big move from me!

I can't comment on the 0.8ohm pod yet as I haven't had one to try, but I have high hopes for it, if the 0.6ohm is anything to go by 🥰
