1988 Montevertine, Cannaio: A special bottling the estate made for Giorgio Pinchiorri and his famous restaurant in Florence beginning in the early 1980s. The wine owes its name to a small vineyard (0.2 ha) that Manetti planted in 1982, next to the Pergole Torte vineyard but in a slightly cooler area rich in reeds (hence the name Canneto). From this vineyard, only in the best vintages, the finest Sangiovese grapes were harvested, along with a few clusters of Canaiolo and later Colorino, with the aim of creating a "small" Pergole Torte, produced in extremely limited quantities (one or two barrels at most). In 1988 only 1296 bottles were made.
