Last night we hosted our Autumn wine tasting and tried some fantastic new wines from the Loire with our customers.

Hard to pick a favourite, but I think the Fabien Duveau Saumur Champigny Le Bourg just edges it for me.

Thanks to Niall for being a great host for the evening and to all the customers who attended on the night.

Next week, we have a whisky tasting with White Peaks distillery and more wine tasting next month. Check the website for details and tickets or pop in.

It's been an exhausting but enjoyable week in Navarra for me, sampling lots of wonderful wines and meeting some very talented winemakers. Keep an eye out for some new wines on the shelves in the coming weeks and the website for my write-up of what I've been up to.

In the meantime, we are open all weekend if you need a recommendation for a bottle or two.

If you've ever wondered what a couple of Million litres of wine looks like, this is it! We had a nice tour of the vines, winery and Barrel store followed, of course, by a tasting.

We have a good spread of tastings coming up for Autumn /Winter and started off, last Thursday this o**y for the senses with Milk and Honey whisky from Tel Aviv.
David Cover, brand ambassador for the UK & North America clearly loves what he is doing. His relaxed manner inviting enquiry and debate.
The history of this distillery is fairly short.
Friends are having a drink one night in 2012 and ponder what was missing from the local community and came up with the brilliant idea of starting a distillery. Jump forward 12 years and they are making World class whisky, winning the World’s best single malt whisky at the World whiskies Awards 2023 and experimenting / innovating with geography and casks.
Everything we tried went down really well. It was fascinating to see how flavours evolve with differing cask types. Difficult to pin down a favourite for me. The fortified wine cask bottled at a mere 66.5% was intense. The kind of whisky you can go back to endlessly.
Thanks to the wonderful crowd that turned up for this and making it a super evening and huge thanks to David. Hope you got home OK.

There was a lot of Sip, Stir, Spritzing going on, Thursday evening.
Sip, Stir, Spritz is the current campaign from Cocchi1891 to introduce to a wider public the delights of aromatised wines or, Vermouth to you and me.
This fascinating subject was expertly elucidated by Sonia Elia, brand advocacy manager @ Cocchi.
Going back to the late 19th century when the taste for flavoured wines was the trend a young pastry chef from Florence settled in Asti and the rest as they say is history. Giulio Cocchi built a lasting business and influenced the bar / drinks industry in infinite ways
We tried 6 styles that differ in terms of base wine and herbs and spices used. Some lending themselves to aperitifs, partners to food or to finish the evening as a digestif. What was apparent was the vast number of ways it could be enjoyed with a splash of soda here or a measure of vodka/gin there.
I was berated for my concept of dry martini but now feel wholly educated. Sonia was sparkling in her delivery, and I think everyone was thoroughly entertained.
Huge thanks to her and the charming crowd we had.
Putting the brakes on our soirees for the summer break. But are in intense negotiations as we speak, to bring you more exotic evenings.
Oh, and a little bird told me that Stefanie Holt might be up for hosting a night. You have been warned.
