WE LOVE… These digital versions of stories from . Part of the magazine’s ongoing experiments with digital storytelling, creative director and her team have developed a nice balance of text and image in a gently active environment that lets the reader move through the story at their own pace.

First, a digital version of this weekend’s cover story, Becoming Trumps Country, a report from one county in Pennsylvania about how it moved right on the recent election. Black and white photography by sets a serious tone, and the simple relationship between text and image is brought together cleverly in the phone with occasional horizontal pans across landscape format images

And second, the opening to this year’s Voyages issue of the magazine, with a series of six stories asking how far would you go for a single bite. A brighter, colourful experience with an index scroll and a set of distinct visual journeys through the six stories. Punchier but a similar interaction between text and image

I’ve not seen anything quite like these editorial pieces before; the stories unfold very simply but the work underlying that simplicity shouldn’t be discounted-it’s all about the story not the tech

These digital stories are only available to subscribers, so subscribe/find a subscriber to take a look

WE LOVE! 🍳💚 A large format, maximalist magazine-shaped portfolio showcasing the work of British photographer Henry Gorse. Across its positively dripping-with-colour pages (with recurring ‘?’ motif), you’ll find ten decades worth of images—portraiture, fashion editorials, documentary-style—collaged together and accompanied by an index at the back 🗂️⤴️

There’s also a tongue in cheek magazine editorial published by the ‘Photographer Liberation Front’ playfully investigating creative theft through a collection of pull quotes from artists about their preferred method of plagiarism. With three covers to choose from, this is a limited edition of 500 🫢

WE LOVE 💜💜💜 The international film magazine from the British Film Institute, featuring reviews, interviews with filmmakers, profiles of film stars past and present, mega movie listicles and industry-focused news. It’s the solid movie magazine at the centre of the industry, around which the likes of Little White Lies can spin a more tangential approach to the subject.

On the cover for the December 2024 edition is newcomer Payal Kapadia and her first fiction feature All We Imagine as Light ✨ After winning big at Cannes, Kapadia reflects on blending reality and fiction through poetic filmmaking.

Elsewhere, a look into the relevant political intrigue found in papal thriller Conclave, a radical new direction for Jacques Audiard, and David Lynch muses on a variety of subjects from Idaho woods to consciousness.

WE LOVE! 🪨🍂 Joining the likes of , et al, is a new, generously sized bit of outdoorsy appreciation on our shelves, produced by Brooklyn-based brand FSP. With its Gramicci-meets-geology cover feature, its an aesthetically pleasing (if not explicitly gorp-y) mix of photography, fashion/gear and musings on endeavours in the wild.

This second issue includes trips to Bolivia and Japan; sensual dips in the river; a feature on tent manufacturer Warmlite; and a collection of cult skate/surf/climbing VHS tapes 📼🛹

MEET THE SPEAKERS! magCulture Live London 2024 takes place on Thursday 7 November. The day will focus on the creative power of the double-page spread, and feature a series of talks from designers and editors, including Anna Morrissey, founder and editor of Tummy Ache

Combining slow fashion, art and conversations on mental health, each issue is dedicated to exploring a single emotion through essays, interviews, poetry and more, with the aim of challenging emotional stagnation.

Following a debut focussing on vulnerability, the recent second issue edition is the Jealousy issue. The green-tinged emotion is explored through writing on sibling rivalry, it-girls and obsession, sobriety, and on-screen swimming pools.

As well as the talks, our MagMagMag pop-up shop will be present at magCulture Live, alongside tables from partners. The pop-up will continue through Friday 8 and Saturday 9 November, accompanied by a couple of free MagMagMag events—check the magCulture journal for details of those

WE LOVE ✏️✏️✏️ Gentle on the eyes and in the hands, is a new title produced entirely in, well, pencil! Everything from the cover art to images, texts and even page numbers inside were originally handwritten or drawn using graphite, reproduced on pages that feel appropriately notebook-esque.

It’s an ode to reconnecting with analog tools away from digital distractions because, as editor Sasha Wizansky writes, ‘entire worlds can emerge from a single pencil’ 🌍

This first (or zeroth) issue includes poetry, comics, essays, drawings and sketches from twenty contributors, each distinct in illustrative style, level of details and handwriting (some more legible than others), with the dust jacket doubling as a foldout poster.
