One of my favourite releases of the year is when a little, but never enough, Skyaasen rolls through the doors. After a harvest in Savigny-lès-Beaune cemented Joachim’s love for the region he left behind his career in the boring world of finance to pursue his dream in the heart of Burgundy. Sourcing exceptional fruit from across the region, the wines from this micro domaine have shot to stardom in just a few years. The painstakingly pure approach taken in the cellar is evident throughout the range. As expected, these have been flying out the door. Now’s probably your last chance until next year. Final call. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

Last week we received a tiny yet mighty shipment from Thibaud Pierson over in the Jura. Earlier this year we spent a fascinating hour in his cellar in downtown Poligny, ripping various bits out of various vessels. My notes are wild, but glowing. These wines are alive in the best sense, offering vibrancy from the off and developing nicely with air.

Thibaud has been working his families vines for several years now after spending his formative years working with Bornard and Morel. He farms organically, and in the cellar the approach is strictly minimal intervention, no SO2 added. Everything is done by hand, and production is tiny, with only an eye-wateringly small amount making it to our shores. With quality so high and quantity so low it is a real rarity that we can offer these to both our loyal retail customers alongside the trade.

L’Ampelographe 2023 is predominantly a blend of Chardonnay and Savagnin. It’s electric and full of lemon curd, vegetal spice and a smoky, almost mezcal like verve. This follows through onto an energetic palate that further grows in expression with air.

For Le Vin des Anciennes 2023 we’re in field blend territory. This ebbs and flows, moving from sour dark fruits through tonic like quinine and brine.

These won’t be around for long so if you work in the trade and would like to secure an allocation please flick an email over to [email protected]

If you just have good taste then you can find these at .ldn and on the virtual shelves, link in bio.

Trust me, I’d be getting in early on these.

Good Intentions is the inspiring project from husband and wife team Andrew and Louise down on South Australia’s Limestone Coast. Their vineyards are planted in the shadows of Australia’s youngest volcano and the combination of cool climate, prevailing winds and pure water sources make this a prime spot for both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The winemaking is just how we like it, hands off. Fermentations are with wild yeast, and SO2 is used sparingly. The wines are neither fined nor filtered and bottled onsite. Andrew and Louise literally do everything themselves. Their wines are vibrant and pure fruited examples, perfectly illustrating the modern Australian drive toward expressive wines high on drinkability that speak of both variety and region.

I love everything about this project. Right through from the inspiring story, the competitive pricing and above all their sheer quality. I reckon you’ll like ‘em too!

If you work in the trade and would like to know more or arrange a tasting please flick an email over to [email protected]

If you just have good taste then the wines are all available through the link in bio!

You can also find the Pinot pouring BTG at .ldn this week alongside the full range on the shelves and on the list .ldn

Gross by name, not by nature.

Last Friday a whopping three pallets made their way down the Kingsland road, up our little alley before being safely tucked away in the warehouse. It was just under a year ago that we went on our litte joly to Alsace, ate far too much choucroute and unearthed these gems in the picturesque village of Gueberschwihr. Dont worry, I still can’t pronounce it either.

Vincent and his father Rémy have ten hectares of vines which they farm biodynamically and harvest by hand, all planted to the usual Alsatian suspects. Inspired by the likes of Gravner, maceration makes up a large part of the range. I adore these wines, and considering this is the third shipment this year, it’s clear that you guys do to.

Try-o has been a staple ever since it first landed. I dread to thing how many bottles of this have been consumed at Dan’s since… For good reason, it is in my eyes the perfect orange wine at the perfect price. Gorgeous in colour, texture and aromatics.

Going up a gear, the single varietal bottlings are detailed expressions of grape and place. Achieved through gentle pressings and three weeks on their skins, these are true snapshots of the varieties that make up this wonderful reigon.

Aside from the forward thinking macerations Vincent also produces an excellent range of Cremant. Prelude is a clean as whistle blend of Riesling and Auxerrois. Whist, Louis spends extended time on its lees for biscuit-y, breezy bottle. Immaculate in their precision, you can’t find this quality of fizz elsewhere on the market.

The recent addition of a Pinot Noir has completed the range. Its iron-like minerality, and subtle herbaceous notes giving other regions a real run for their money

We will be showcasing these special wines at our Salon de Dan’s later this month. Tickets and more info can be found in the link in bio.

If you work in the trade and would like to know more or arrange a tasting please flick an email over to [email protected]

If you just have good taste, good stocks are available online, BTG and on the shelves at .ldn and on the list .ldn

As we transition firmly into the Autumn months, I thought now is a great time to share with you some wines that have recently blown me away.

Paralian, is the long-awaited project from husband and wife team Charlie Seppelt and Skye Salter. The wines are all about vintage expression and site. They have amassed over 50 vintages between them, both in the old world and new, before settling down in Port Willunga, a seaside town in the McLaren Vale. The winemaking is gentle, but traditional. The red’s are made in a 133-year old wax-lined-concrete fermenter. A portion of whole bunches are used and these are hand plunged and foot trodden over their long, slow natural ferments. They’re raised in French puncheons with little or no new oak. Their Adelaide hills Chardonnay is barrel fermented and also sees restrained, but masterful oak use.

I think this quote from Skye sum’s up the wines better than I could. “We are looking towards modernity with our style, high fragrance, brightness and above all, drinkability at an early stage with the potential to be cellared.” These wines are exactly that. High toned and vibrant. For those impatient, like me, they are drinking insanely well now. However, they’ll also greatly reward those with a a bit more patience. A perfect snapshot of the Modern Australian wine scene, and for the quality on show, they are also very keenly priced.

They’re available online alongside more info through the link in bio. If you are thirsty for a bottle and simply can’t wait then you can find these on the list at .ldn and on the shelves and in the fridges at .ldn

In the world of wine there are a lot of books written that probably shouldn’t have been written. Destined for the Xmas stocking and subsequently for the top shelf in the living room to gather dust. Then there are books which shape a regional profile, and bring into the limelight the extraordinary work, and the transcendent wines being made. As readers will know, we are both partial to a quick work trip to the Jura, as well as purchasing and selling as much of the gear as we can get our little mits on. As such it’s a real honour that is making the trip over to Dalston to present her latest book Jura Wine Ten Years On, a companion volume to her acclaimed book Jura Wine.

Join us on Sunday the 22nd of September at .ldn for an afternoon of fine wine and excellent provision of information. Wink will be holding a special tasting alongside the release of her book from 2-4pm, for which tickets are essential. Tickets can be bought via the link in our Bio.

After the event everyone is welcome to join in the festivities. Wink will be sticking around to chat all things Jura and sell/sign her other books. We’ll be pouring strictly Jura BTG and offering out a selection of wines usually reserved for private consumption, just because. If you want first dibs, I’d be coming for the book launch and whispering sweet nothings.

See you there!

I love Fridays. I also love new vintages from one of my favourite producers. Today we have both.

These ‘23’s from Yann are some of my favourites in recent memory. Another warm year but the wines are as energetic as ever. Some earlier picking and plenty of rain throughout the season ensures freshness aplenty. Fast, healthy ferments also mean we’re back to no sulphur across the board. With their tonic-like levels of refreshments I’m counting down the hours until I can crack into one.

Check ‘em out online, link in bio, before I drink ‘em all.

Located in the Huon Valley of Tasmania, Australia’s southernmost municipality and coolest wine region, Sailor Seeks Horse sits right on the edge of viticultural possibility. Paul and Gilli believe that it is at these extremes where exceptional results are possible.

Paul and Gilli met while working in London in 2005. A desire to explore winemaking took them both to the Languedoc in France, where they observed how the French went about things. Seeing that they needed to learn more, they took off to Western Australia and studied viticulture and oenology, while taking further experience working harvests in New Zealand, Oregon, and Margaret River. Fast forward a few years and the couple took the leap and purchased their own plot of land in Southern Tasmania, convinced of the potential of their site in Huon. They now go about seeking to make the best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir they can, and from 2012 the results have blown us away.

If you want to see what all the fuss is about, they’ll be in town for our latest Tasting at Dan’s on Wednesday the 11th alongside the newly crowned Queen of Pinot, Mel Chester from Giant Steps. This is not one to be missed.

If you can’t wait, the wines are available in limited quantities online, link in bio.

A load of new Gringet gear recently graced the warehouse. New wines from the estate formerly ran by the late, great Dominique Belluard. I don’t have enough characters to explain what this man did for wine and for the Savoie reigon. Google him, he is wine royalty. The newly named estate has been christened Domaine Gringet in both his, and his favourite grapes’ honour. Now in the talenated, albeit young, hands of Vincent Ruiz and under the watchful eye of his mentor Balthazar, the legacy continues.

These latest release are utterly electric, thought provoking wines that won’t be around forever. Miniscule quantities are now available online. Link in bio.

Not much else I’d rather drink whilst I try and catch a tan 🌞

Thanks as always to both &

We are so pumped to be bringing you all the wines of Damien Guadagnolo. We fell for these so badly that we literally drove to France and drove them back again. Talk about dedication. Seven years’ work experience with a certain JF Ganeva plus a career as a professional boxer under his belt (irrelevant perhaps, but a cool fact) Damien is going from strength to strength. With two hectares of vines in Orbagna, he’s the definition of a humble, intuitive vigneron, who doesn’t use sulphur because, in his words, ‘I don’t know how to...’.

The reds are pure, ethereal Jurassic expressions that are joyful and juicy. Plus, we managed to grab one of the most serious macerated wines I’ve tried in some time. The eagerly anticipated whites coming further down the line.

I’m not gonna ramble on too much about these wines as they speak for themselves.

Minute quantities are available online, link in bio, and on the shelves at .ldn

Those who have frequented .ldn and .ldn in recent times will likely have consumed a fair bit of wine from Riley Harrison, I know I have. Thankfully for both you and I, we have received our second shipment (the first lot got consumed in record time). With the good weather finally reaching our shores, I’m certain these too will be gone with a blink of the eye. Better get a move on.

With access to fruit from some of the best growers in the state. His wines are hedonistic in their perfume and enviable in their freshness. This is a range of wines that taste like what they are and the place they come from. Without dogma, these are minimally messed with, pure and meticulous expressions, high on drinkability.

If you want to see what all the fuss is about and meet the man himself he is making the treacherous trip over from Aus for a p**s up on our very own Dalston Riveria. Large pours, plenty of snacks, good chat, even a VB tinnie or two if you want. Sounds dreamy, let’s just hope he brings that Aussie sunshine with him. Tickets in bio.

If you can’t wait or make the tasting the full lot is available online now, on the shelves at .ldn and on the list at ’s.

If you work in the trade, and would like to taste flick an email to [email protected].

Enjoy

Georges Descombes needs no introduction
to those well versed in the Beaujolais. An OG of the natural wine movement, he has been unofficially labelled as the 5th member of the ‘Gang of Four’. Lapierre, Foillard, Thevent, and Breton are certainly not bad company to keep…

Hand-harvested grapes see temperature control in large cement tanks before a traditional semi-carbonic ferment. The older vine releases see six months in barrel before bottling. He also opts to release the wines a year later than his contemporaries.

The younger vine releases offer some of the most joyous drinking you can find at this price point. By no means lacking in either complexity of drinkability.

Whilst the older vine bottles are just as compelling in their youth, these are destined for the ages. I’ve had the pleasure of sinking a few of these with age, thankfully now so can you. The Morgon Vermont 2018 giving us a glimmer at what lies ahead…

If that wasn’t enough, we’ve also got a stunning Beaujolais Blanc this time round.

These are iconic, legendary wines that we are so pleased to be working with that will appeal to both those more naturally inclined and to those who prefer the classics.
