1991 Single Cask 200th Anniversary Edition.

Like most Islay malts, Lagavulin is not for the fainthearted. The distillery was officially founded in 1816 (although illicit production on the site most certainly predates that) and produces malt with a signature style of earthy smoke and savory undertones.

1962 marked a significant point in the distillery’s history, as it was then bought by John Logan Mackie, whose nephew Peter went on to create the White Horse blend with Lagavulin at its heart. These days, the distillery, along with White Horse, belongs to Diageo. However, it is generally agreed that while Lagavulin’s core range remains reliably excellent, older expressions bearing the White Horse name still have the edge. The grand finale of Lagavulin’s 200th Anniversary celebrations, this highly anticipated single cask release was sold via ballot (a mere 522 bottles were produced).

This whisky is aged for five years, offering a refined and mature base. To enhance its flavour profile, we carefully blended in premium maple syrup and sugar, achieving a perfectly balanced ratio that elevates the taste to exceptional standards.

After extensive testing, we found both a 40% ABV and a 20% ABV version to be outstanding in their own right. Unable to choose between the two, we made the decision to bottle both variations, ensuring a selection that caters to diverse palates while maintaining the highest quality.

Blending Canadian heritage with English craftsmanship, our maple-infused whisky unites premium Canadian whisky with the rich sweetness of pure maple syrup.
