Wine dinner for the Lincoln Medical Wine Society 🍷

We were honoured to be invited back to Washingborough Hall Hotel to host a wine dinner for another year...

The wine selection was diverse with wines from Spain, South Africa, Germany, USA and Italy 🥂🍷

Some food and wine highlights were the Zinio Rioja and burrata starter, and Peth Wetz German Pinot Noir with the roast duck 🦆

A night with Castello Vicchiomaggio 🍷

Last week we had the pleasure of enjoyIng the whole wine range from Castello Vicchiomaggio, Tuscany, Italy ❤️

John Matta joined us in Lincoln for his 4th tasting with us since we opened over 30 years ago...

The wines were delicious and the stories shared by John were engaging and gave us a better picture of the winery and it's history as a premium wine producer.

Chocolate & Wine 🍫🍷

Pairing chocolate and wine can be tricky but when the chocolate is great, the experience can be wonderful ❤️

Last Thursday, we co-hosted an event with Kathryn from and we were taught how to taste chocolate the way quality chocolate should be tasted...

Here's some tips on getting the perfect pairing next time you fancy having a piece of chocolate to finish off your glass of wine:

🍫 Tannins are bitter so avoid putting too much tannin together e.g. 100% dark chocolate with a Cabernet Sauvignon...Try a fruity white wine instead!

🍾 If you're going for a sparkling then go for Demi-sec, this has more sweetness that can balance the sweetness in milk chocolate

🍯 Dessert wines are usually a safe bet with milk chocolate but try to pair similar characteristics together e.g. dried fruit notes in the chocolate call for a rich Pedro Ximenez

🍷 Dry red wines can pair well with chocolate but make sure it's fruity, not too high in tannins, and the chocolate has a lot of fruity notes as well

🩷 Chateau Roubine 🩷

A lovely visit today by Valerie Rousselle from Chateau Roubine with their delicious rosé wines from Provence, France 😍

Here's the wines we tasted:

🩷 Hippy Rosé - a light, delicate rosé with notes of peaches and cream. A mouthwatering wine and perfect for sharing in the sun.

🩷 La Rose - the addition of Syrah creates additional layers of spice with a hint of pink peppercorn. The perfect balance of complexity and fun.

🩷 Cuvee Lion & Dragon - a complex rosé that has layers of fruit, spice, and an earthy quality. An excellent gastronomic wine that would pair spectacularly with lobster..

Rosé season is here and we have the wines to pair!
