🥃Whisky Tasting Announcement 📢

Join us on the eve of Yorkshire Day for a special tasting with the folk who provided us with Yorkshire's first Single Malt, Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery.

Our first whisky tasting in our new venue promises to be extra special as we will be opening a bottle we’ve been sitting on since it’s release last year: Berry Bros. & Rudd Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery Pedro Ximenez Finish Cask #2237 (a little more on that here). We were only allowed one bottle of this, which is why we saved it for this special tasting. The other 355 bottles sold out online in 30 minutes.

You will also try five other whiskies from the Filey Bay range while one of their team talks you through the awesome work, they are doing at their field to bottle distillery on the east coast. Ticket price also includes a selection of meats and cheeses from our kitchen (vegan & vegetarian options also available).

🥃Black Top Rum Tasting Announcement 📢

Join us for a very special masterclass with Mitch Wilson (Black Tot Rum Global Ambassador), as he presents a deep dive into the murky waters of this historic spirit. In this session, Mitch will explore some of the common myths and misconceptions associated with Navy Rum, and we will discover the real story behind the world’s first multi-country rum blend.

Guests will have a chance to taste Black Tot Finest Caribbean as well as each of its individual component rums from Barbados, Guyana, and Jamaica that they chose for their blend. In addition, each attendee will be given a taste of Black Tot Master Blender’s Reserve - bottled at 54.5% ABV (full Navy Strength), this is a limited-edition release aimed at recreating the blending style of the authentic Navy Rum blend.

Ticket price also includes a selection of meats and cheeses from our kitchen (vegan & vegetarian options also available).

It’s finally sunny! And just in time for English Wine Week! How lovely! 🌞

We figured it would just be rude not to put a special on for the occasion, so here you go…

🍾We have the lovely Roebuck Estate Classic Cuvee on offer to you for £12.50 all weekend 🍾

Roebuck Estates adopt a single-minded approach, using only the finest quality estate-grown grapes, from exceptional vineyard sites to create award-winning wines from classic Champagne varieties🍇

The grapes are sourced from a variety of premium Sussex vineyard sites comprising of chalk, clay and sandy soils. Perfectly ripe bunches were carefully handpicked into small buckets where they are then partially fermented in old Burgundian oak barrels followed by a minimum aging of 3 years to give richness and complexity.

You will find notes of notes of baked apples and citrus fruits are layered with a toasty richness and hint of hazelnut 🍏🍊🍋🌰
�For the nerds out there we have: 44% Pinot Noir, 42% Chardonnay, 14% Pinot Meunier.

🧀But that wouldn’t be enough! We’ve also got two new special cheeses from Cryer & Stott for you to try…

The first is a Yorkshire Cask that uses the local Kirkstall Brewery Virtous Pale Ale to make this fantastic cheddar blended with wholegrain mustard. A rich, bold and creamy cheddar (£4.50 served with pickled chillis and crackers) 🌶️

The second is the Duke of Wellington, a blue cheese created using French Roquefort Penicillin. Matured for 15 weeks to give an outstanding creamy and buttery taste (£5.50 served with chutney and crackers).

🍷WINE BY THE GLASS SPECIAL🍷

We have a small parcel of Chateau De Lussac - Lussac Saint-Emilion 2012, which we're pouring on the bar this weekend.

This is a 12 year old wine from Chateau De Lussac, founded in 1876 they produce some of the best wines in the Saint Emilion region, on a terrain of clay and loam. With a blend of 77% Merlot & 23% Cabernet Franc, you can expect crushed cassis and notes of blackberry, blueberry, strawberry as well as hints of violet, cardamom and an imperceptible touch of vanilla. The palate is fruity, minerally, racy & elegant, it offers a beautiful finesse of precision minerality finishing with tannins that are fine, elegant and structured.

We tried this wine with Ham Hock Terrine and it works fantastically, similarly a cheese board would also be a perfect accompaniment, both of which we happen to serve here at Latitude.

If you've never tried a wine with a bit of age to it, this is the perfect chance to try a superb 12 year old Bordeaux from a very reputable producer.

An evening with Dr. Richard Hamilton.
We’re thrilled to to invite you to a very special tasting event with Dr. Richard Hamilton, a winemaker that has a family history of winemaking nearing 200 years. These wines have been firm favourites of ours for some time, if you’ve shopped Australia with us there’s a good chance we’ve handed you one of his bottles.
Richard Hamilton Wines are reflective of the distinctive McLaren Vale region with its Mediterranean climate producing great value, fruit driven wines. The Hamilton family have been involved in winemaking and grape growing for five generations. Dr Richard Hamilton now continues his family’s long tradition of involvement in the wine industry.
Ticket prices will include a flight of 7 wines, some of which we stock and some others that will be equally new and exciting to us here at Latitude. Each guest will also receive a charcuterie board featuring some of the best cured meat and cheese all sourced from Yorkshire. There are vegan/vegetarian options available, let us know which option you would prefer and any dietary requirements when booking your ticket.
This is one of the first tasting events at our new home 46, The Calls, and is the first of the “meet the maker” events that hopefully become a regular feature in years to come. Don’t miss this, we are very excited and you should be too.

Not long after I opened Latitude, my son Xander was born. For scale, here's Xander and I, then and now.

You've heard a lot recently about how we've got here, how we've done and where we're going, so I won't go into that again.

Rome was built on 7 hills, Latitude was built on one Chris Hill, and Rome wasn't built in a day... I guess what I'm trying to say is we are behind our non existent schedule, WE'RE SORRY OKAY!!!! We want it to be perfect.

The honest truth, that we were reluctant to admit, is that we will have to do one more bank holiday in the arch. We hope that following the early May bank holiday we will officially move. We hope.

So while we're still here we call on you to come fill your bank holiday boots with our delicious booze. Psst, Want A Sneak Peak Of Our New Home?

It's April, where are we at? Well our vague opening date remains vague and we're glad about that. Wiggle room is the key with new venue openings. While we'd like to tell you exactly when we will be moving in, the simple answer is we're still figuring that out. We are approaching this like a fine wine and taking our time. Latitude is not, and will never be Nouveau.

But here's the skinny, the floor has been laid and the paint has dried. That means the next step is installing 36 meters of shelving. I know you're wondering what the shelving at the arch adds up to. 29m... and we've got an entire extra layer of shelves*... So that's fun. The bar layout has been planned out and the back bar tiles are up, it's all very lovely.

That's about all there is to tell you at the moment other than the new staff start on tuesday, so we will start training them on how this intricate machine works and they will start writing the cocktail menu! What's your favourite classic cocktail? Maybe we will include it.

Connecting Leeds have loaned us this fetching E-Cargo Bike to do our City Centre deliveries on. @latitudewine serves a large number of awesome bars and restaurants in Leeds and also delivers to retail customers who live in the City. For some time now we have done these deliveries using our trusty sack trolley or push bike trolley, favouring these options over navigating our diesel van through City traffic and adding to Leeds poor air quality. However, these options took a lot of time and effort, limiting how far and efficiently we could deliver. These E-Cargo Bikes don't come cheap so @connectingleeds have set up a scheme so we can trial one and establish how beneficial a bike like this would be to our Latitude, ultimately allowing us to decide if it's worth the cost. So far we are having a great time with it! What do you think? 🚲🌐🍷
