Interesting… and very true. Even a wee regular spend in your local community shop will ensure it can continue to provide a vital local service! And thanks to our many current customers. It’s more than a shop!

Saw this on Facebook; no idea if those figures are accurate but the principle is!

Shopping with small shops keeps things local.
And crucially, shopping locally is often far cheaper!

It’s such a myth that big shops are cheaper. And if you value what you eat, feed your kids and family, isn’t it better to know what you’re eating?

Supermarkets ever increase their use of self scan, they’re looking to automate things and cut their wage bills: and then the billions in profits they make goes to shareholders.

We employ local people who spend money locally and we try to support local events, clubs and good causes where we can too.

Shop locally; it really does make a difference, and makes things better for everyone!

Hi folks, with the red weather alert we think it best to close our shop early tomorrow for the sake of our staff and volunteers. Mags will be on duty until 10.00am if you want to get anything you need.

We can maybe push it to 10.05am if you need a wee drop of red wine or a beer😂.

Once again the people of Oxton rise to the challenge. Our wee shop was flooded this morning but the call went out and help is in hand. Thanks to you all. It typifies the great spirit in our community. Have a great Hogmanay and best wishes for a peaceful New Year.

Santa, we know you might enjoy a wee bit of the amber gold, but if you run short you know you can pop in to your local community shop and re-stock! Take note of our opening times at your service!

Monday 23rd December - normal opening hours
Christmas Eve - normal opening hours
Christmas Day - closed
Boxing Day - 10am until 12 noon
Friday 27th - normal opening hours
Saturday 28th - normal opening hours
Sunday 29th - normal opening hours
Monday 30th - normal opening hours
Hogmanay - normal opening hours
New Year's Day - 10am until 12 noon
Thursday 2nd January - 10am until 12 noon

PS Santa wants to give a special mention to the staff and volunteers who will keep your community shop at your service when the rest of us have oor feet up and oor slippers on!

PPS remember to get your raffle tickets for a luxurious Christmas Hamper before the draw is made at 12 noon on 23rd December. The raffle has already raised over £800 for the hall and shop work. Lets make it £1000!
