It’s that time of year again! Our small special allocation of Ikebana Novello has arrived. Every year we preorder this lovely wine from Cantina Zaccagnini - the producers of our bestselling ‘twig wine’.

This is the best of this years grape harvest, Italy’s version of a Beaujolais Nouveau. Light, fresh and upfront bouncy red fruit, designed to be drunk relatively young.

We’d recommend enjoying this fresh fruity vibrant red with antipasti, pizza or some chunks of good Parmesan. £15.99 while stocks last!

It’s beginning to look at lot like Christmas at Sinforiani’s! We’ve had a flurry of deliveries of wonderful things the past week, some stunning gifts, exciting new whisky, gin and rums and all your favourite Italian goods including some new items like biscotti and flavoured olive oils.

Tomorrow (Saturday 18th) got Damgooddrams and The Inventor's Gin Co. Ltd coming in to offer samples of their products and we’ll have some samples of our lovely Italian oils, vinegars and panettone - feel free to pop in for a browse!

It's nearly time for the launch of 'Fallow Edition' (Second Crop). With less than a week to go, we wanted to give you a sneak peek...

This beautiful autumnal dram opens with notes of manuka honey and golden syrup on the nose, followed by warming layers of sweetly spiced ginger candy and ground coffee beans on the palate. Matured in a combination of Oloroso Sherry and Pedro Ximénez casks, 'Fallow Edition' (Second Crop) sits at 46% ABV and, as with all Lochlea whiskies, is non-chill filtered and natural colour.

All pre orders (folk on the list) will be fulfilled, anyone else looking for a bottle drop us a message and we’ll do it on a first come first served basis. 🥃 😉

Distillery Digest - Edradour, Pitlochry, Perthshire (Highland)

Edradour, (Eadar Dhà Dhobhar in Scots Gaelic) meaning “between two rivers" is the smallest traditionally run distillery in Scotland. When it was founded in 1825 it was run by only three men - nowadays just two, proudly sticking to traditional distillation methods, “Edradour stands alone as the last stronghold of handmade single malt whisky from a farm distillery”.

All of their whisky is non chill-filtered (chill filtration removes natural oils and esters producing a clearer spirit, which may appeal to some but many argue this is detrimental to the complexity and mouthfeel of the whisky) nor do they use any artificial colourings to darken or colour match batches. It is popular amongst the purists and people who appreciate the more nuanced flavour profile from the traditional method of production.

Edradour has been owned by the Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky Company since 2002, Signatory, founded in 1988, is primarily an independent bottler specialising in single cask, cask strength and un-chillfiltered bottlings from distilleries all over Scotland. We stock a great range of these, one of the most interesting recent additions being a 17 year old single cask bottling of an Orkney first fill Olorosso butt single malt mysteriously dubbed HP (if you’re not already in the know a quick google search will solve that mystery 😉)

Edradour’s classic range is heavily sherried with rich deep colour and a dinstinctive fruit cake sweetness and grist. They also have a range of different wine and bourbon finishes and a for few days out of the year produce Ballechin, a formidable smoky expression with a phenol content of at least 50ppm.
