What an amazing day spent at @cantinavalpolicellanegrar and @dominiveneti. Eva was incredibly hospitable, knowledgeable and passionate and gave up so much of her time to go through every bit of the process of how they make their stunning wines right through from Valpolicella Classico to Ripasso to Appassimento and finally the Capolavoro, Amarone. We also had the luxury of sampling their new rose which isn’t on the market yet but we will hopefully be getting in. I’ll swim that stuff over if I have to! Eva wanted to take us to the vineyards but unfortunately we had to check in to our accommodation…………that just so happened to be in the Pruviniano vineyards. Paradise! The Domini Veneti Amarone, Valpolicella Classico and Lugana are available in the shop. Gorgeous tasting @thebeeswingmcr today with @produttoridimanduria and @alliancewine. Giovanni’s passion for his product was infectious and to have someone talk about wine so passionately and then be able to taste the reflection of that passion is a real gift. Most interesting take away was the way that they have had to market their outstanding Primitivo Rose. They choose to call it Rosato as they feel that Rose has a preconception of being from Provence and being blush. The Primitivo grape creates a deep pink colour after only 2 hours of skin maceration so it is impossible to make a blush rose. This does not mean that the rose is sweet or cheap but just that the skins give a deeper colour. The reality is that you can produce a beautifully, light, dry, fresh but complex rose regardless of whether it is light salmon or fuchsia pink in colour. London Wine Festival 2024!!! Arrived over an hour late due to train turmoil and missed a load of the talks but it was still fab! We tasted Greek, Georgian and Serbian wine as well as lots of “no and low” for those looking to escape the hangover. We saw some familiar faces with peeps like Emily and Danny totally slaying it with @loxwoodmeadworks, and made some new wine pals in @cannedwinecompany We’ve got some exciting new products coming to the shop that we can’t wait to tell you about……especially as they are heavily female influenced.
