It's likely 50 years or more since this 1948 Half Crown was dropped outside the Stores, and I've just found it in the soil outside! The 1942 example shows what it must have looked like when it was lost by someone on the island. I wonder what it would have bought back then!

This mornings 'launch' leaving St Martin's, in the relatively sheltered waters between the islands. It's about time we had a bit of wind as the winter months have been relatively benign. Last blow until October, probably!

With the 2022 holiday season at an end we will be switching to our winter opening hours on Friday 28th October. What a fantastic season it's been with most visitors to the island enjoying settled sunny weather. Here's looking forward to 2023!

Popped over to the The Ruin on Tresco for a lovely 'end of season' lunch yesterday. Huge thanks go to all our staff, those up front and those behind the scenes, who helped keep St Martin's Store's and Post Office running through the summer and, as we stay open all year round, to those who help us through other months. Thanks also to our customers, visitors and residents alike, for your support through another year. Best wishes to all and we look forward to seeing you all again!

As a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and in recognition of the service she gave to the people of the United Kingdom, St Martin’s Stores and Post Office will be closed on Monday 19th September, the day of her State Funeral. We offer our deepest condolences to the Royal Family at this difficult time.
