Berrynarbor Community Shop & Post Office

Berrynarbor Community Shop & Post Office We are a community shop and post office serving the village of Berrynarbor and surrounding areas.
(6)

Winner of the coveted award for best village shop and post office in the South West of England, Berrynarbor is one of over 348 community-owned rural shops in the UK. The creation of Berrynarbor Community Shop was inspired in 2004, when our local shop and post office closed. Determined residents took action and formed a co-operative to save the shop, one of the key facilities of the village. Backed

by the Plunkett Foundation, Berrynarbor Community Shop and Post Office has gone from strength to strength. After four years of dedicated and determined fundraising and planning, and with financial support and advice from the Village CORE program, the shop moved into purpose-built premises in 2008. It continues to be staffed by nearly 30 volunteers, who, along with the shop’s managers, form the enthusiastic team behind this thriving rural social enterprise. The shop stocks a wide range of local produce, from freshly-baked bread and pies, to cider, ice cream and locally-reared meat; one third of the food sold in the shop is local. This reflects the shop’s determination to be an asset not just to the village but to producers, suppliers and the local economy as a whole. The success of Berrynarbor Community Shop and Post Office over the past twelve years demonstrates what can be achieved by rural communities given the right support.

RETURNING GOODS AT THE POST OFFICE.

We sometimes have a problem scanning QR codes off customers smart phones.

This could be down to damage on the phone screen or the screen is to dark.

Another problem is retrieving the QR code due to the WiFi signal within the shop.

To get around these problems, try and lighten your phone screen and take a screen shot of the QR code so you can easily retrieve the photo.

Hope this helps.

Hopefully the Shop will be getting busy over the coming months, and it would help with our bread orders/sales, if you could let us know if you need a standing order and your bread would be waiting for you.
Thank you

One of our new drinks now available at the shop.

Mena Dhu stout is complex and flavoursome, yet deceptively light and refreshing. A subtle oak smoked aroma sets the scene for a delicious flavour profile that entices with a hint of dark chocolate, followed by a delicate touch of liquorice on the finish.

It’s brewed using a blend of six malts – traditional and pale malts for richness and depth, chocolate and smoked malts for a distinctive taste, and malted oats and roasted barley malts to enhance the finish.

Based on an original Cornish recipe, Mena Dhu means ‘black hill’ in Cornish and is named after the farm that was owned by Walter Hicks, the founder of St Austell Brewery.
