The other week, Bridget had a hard few days visiting the Cognac & Armagnac regions in France. It’s not all play, she had to try lots and lots of beautiful Cognacs from as well as visiting and trying just as many amazing Armagnacs from . I then had to persuade her to actually come back! Eauze was beautiful and she even got to visit a Roman Vila - stunning!

We stock a full range of both of these Cognacs and Armagnacs so pop in to see just what makes them so special. Tasting bottles are open!!

What a fun evening! Huddersfield International Crisp Festival wine and crisp matching evening.

Something a little different and something that was a heck of a lot of fun. 6 crisps, 5 wines and 1 bloody good beer. We can’t do a pairing night in a pub, involving crisps and not have a bit of Timothy Taylor’s, matched up with Bradford’s finest, Seabrooks.

Last night we were joined by one of our very favourite people. from gave us a true masterclass in Portuguese wine in just one evening. We travelled from north to south and tasted some truly memorable wines.

Marta only represents family owned vineyards and wineries who all have a sustainable approach. This respect for the land, the people and the wine really shone through.

Plus, following my little trip out to Porto a couple of weeks ago I even joined in and proved that I do listen on occasion. My wine had to be the utterly delightful Royal Oporto 20 year old Tawny from a simply wonderful wine.

To top things off and keep that proper Portuguese vibe going the lovely folk provided us with some of their epic Pastel de Nata. They will be selling them at the Leeds Christmas Markets. Keep your eyes out for them.

It’s been such a busy October that I’ve not had time to post about our utterly fabulous tasting. The really very wonderful Eugenia Gonzalez really conveyed a sense of place about all of these fabulous Argentinian wines. Crikey! We even showed very tasty natural wines, whatever next?😉

In fact Eugenia was that good that I’m thinking of getting her to host all future tastings and I’ll retire.

If you want to know just how fantastic Zuccardi wines are then pop in to the shop and explore the range.

Another amazing tasting evening (I really need to remember to take pics during the tasting but I kind of get drawn in by the whole thing)

Tonight we were joined by the incredible Ginny Povall and she was amazing. I’ve loved the Botanica Wines for some time, the ‘Mary Delaney’ Chenin Blanc is one of the best in South Africa. Every single wine lived up to its incredibly beautiful label and we even got to try our first South African vermouth.

We even pulled out the last few bottles of our Red Wine of The Year 2023, The Liberator Void Of Course which Ginny made.

Once again a huge thanks to Ginny for her time and to all the lovely people who joined us this evening.

Well that was a lovely evening.

A day spent tasting a heck of a lot of wines and then an evening drinking said wines with a whole host of incredible winemakers. I even got the chance to spend the evening with the self titled ‘Greatest Winemaker in the World’ the one and only Andre Van Rensburg.

To add even more wow factor the ever amazing Richard Kelley MW (aka The Liberator) had introduced a whole host of incredible wines from his cellar.

Evenings don’t get much more convivial than that!!

One of life’s truly great food and drink combinations. Roast beef dinner and bloody good claret. Perfectly cooked roast beef with the deliciously, vibrant Chateau Bonnet Rouge. A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, its vibrant freshness and elegant depth of fruit make the Chateau Bonnet Rouge the perfect Sunday roast accompaniment.

Yesterday was just one of THOSE days.

An absolutely incredible day out in the seriously picturesque Douro Valley. I’d obviously seen a whole lot of photos of the Douro Valley but to see its hilly, vine covered beauty first hand was truly breathtaking.

This craggy, rocky, dusty landscape produces some of the finest wines on the planet but boy do they have to work for it. Those slopes are not for the faint hearted. Luckily we drove to the tops of the hills and cruised the river by boat and ate like kings and drank likewise.

make exceptional Port wines but also some incredibly diverse and interesting still wines. The Quinta do Cidro range in particular is standout. Then to spend the night in the incredible guest house, perched high in the peaks with the most incredible views was a real treat.

To finish the evening with an 1867 Colheita Tawny Port just sort of summed up how incredible these last few days have been. I just need to work out coming back.

1867, what a year!

Oddly enough I think that’s the first time I’ve tasted a Port from 1867. It was as utterly, utterly incredible as you might think. I can’t believe that a wine can sit that long in a barrel and then come out tasting so fresh and complex.

If you would like some then it comes in a nice gift box for around £3000 a bottle. I got a second glass because I got the vintage right I’ll have you know.

What an amazing day!!

A really deep look at Port and Porto life. have a rich, rich history but this Port house is very much a family business too. This was evident from the care and attention that goes in to every step of every process and results in some stunning wines. We drank amazing wines, we ate amazing food and, most of all, we all enjoyed amazing company. Porto is fantastic!

I’ve taken a new approach to wine trips. Rather than just turn up and get stuck straight in to a completely foreign country, I thought I’d give myself a couple of days to acclimatise. So tomorrow I will be visiting the epic but for the last two days I’ve been exploring all that the utterly fabulous city of Porto has to offer and it’s been epic.

What a fantastic evening! tasting tonight was amazing and, it was a full house!! 8 stunning wines and the incredible winemaker behind them Elena Brooks really brought them to life.

Dandelion Vineyards really are the epitome of what it is that really gets me so excited about the Barossa Valley. So if you want to have the same big smile on your face as I have in the pic above, buy lots of Dandelion Vineyard wines.

WE HAVE THE MOST AMAZING CUSTOMERS.

Chadders is taking a couple of well deserved days off so yours truly has been out and about delivering wonderful wines.

This morning I got the ridiculously gorgeous task of delivering a whole stack of delicious Champagne to the delight that is Rise Hall over near the East Coast. The sun shone and the sky was blue and Rise Hall looked utterly resplendent. Some days this job really doesn’t feel like work, even when I’m lugging boxes.

WOWZERS!!

Something a little special from Chateau Bonnet. Divinus is a stunning wine which shows just what this wonderful property is capable of. Every care has been taken from vineyard to bottle and this is an amazingly expressive wine. Aged for 18 months in French oak and with a few years bottle age on it this wine is drinking beautifully now but there is another decade of cellaring potential here too.

It’s in the same league quality wise as some very big names in Bordeaux but the price doesn’t hit those same silly heights. It’s not often that top quality Bordeaux and value appear in the same sentence.
