SHERRY WEEK 2024
A couple of weeks ago we were delighted to see so many of you take part in our Sherry tasting for Sherry week! We had a wonderful selection from Bodegas Barbadillo to try, and their Ambassador Tim helped guide everyone through the different styles.

🍷Happy Beaujolais Noveau Day!🍷

Beaujolais nouveau is a red wine made from Gamay grapes produced in the Beaujolais region of France. It is a vin de primeur, fermented just a few weeks before being released for sale on the third Thursday of November.

One of our favourite wine holidays! So make sure you pop by to pick one today, we have limited stock available!🍷

🚨NEW WINES🚨

There have been a lot of new wines coming into our range recently and we thought we would shed some light on some of these wines from lesser known varieties and regions!

Mauricio Lorca’s wines have long been in our range, however we are excited to say he is now producing wine in Spain in the Castilla Y Leon region under the Calma Indomita label! The Albarin is reminiscent of the Albariño grape variety, being that it’s the older brother, and is fresh and crisp with a high minerality. The Prieto Picudo is rich, full and leathery, with bright red and black fruit and a long finish.

The Serbal Petit Verdot from Argentina is bright, juicy and very quaffable with red fruit and subtle herbaceous notes.

The Lapilli Aglianico from Campania in Italy, is full of black fruit, mineral and leathery flavours making it perfect for winter stews.

Stahl Weissburgunder from Germany is reminiscent of white asparagus. The wine is crisp but with texture and green fruit and herbaceous notes.

The Mtsvane from Georgia, is fresh and aromatic, with floral notes and stone fruit flavours. This wine is produced using the traditional Amphora method.

We will work with you to select your gifts from a wide range of wines at all price points and package them using recyclable, courier-safe packaging for nationwide delivery. Local Horsham delivery or collection from the shop also available.

🍂🍁 Autumn is a special time for us here 🍁🍂

🍇 It’s harvest time for all our incredible local producers, bringing fresh, new vintage goodness our way!! 🥂🍷

🎉 🥳 And September is also our business birthday (6 years…… no, we can’t quite believe it either!!), a time to reflect on where we’ve come from and how things have changed at the shop here in Carfax 🫶 One thing that hasn’t changed is the amazing support every day from our lovely customers who love to and support - so a huge thank you to you all 🙏🏼

And an extra special thank you to Charlotte and our families - we literally couldn’t do it without you! 💕

We noticed Horsham has a bit of a love for the grape variety Albariño, so we thought we’d expand our selection!

Albariño is traditionally found in the Rías Baixas region of Spain (Abadia and Mytilus are from there!). It can produce either tropical aromatic notes of peach and apricot, or be very crisp, mineral and sailine in its flavour. It can also be found in Portugal but known as Alvarinho, which will be on our shelves again soon!

We have also taken on an Albariño from New Zealand and Uruguay if you are looking to try something different!

We know how much you guys love port and whilst the weather may not call for red, white port is perfect this time of year!

Whether served chilled on its own over ice or with tonic water, white port is full or herbaceous and floral notes, and the Graham’s Blend No.5 also has citrus notes with hints of orange blossom! 🍊🍋🍋‍🟩

🍷Chilling Red Wine🍷

Did you know that the suggestion for serving red wine at ‘room temperature’ came from a time when wine was being served in French castles, around 14-16C, so much cooler than our modern centrally-heated homes. It’s why you’ll occasionally find red wine deliberately being served chilled, often in warmer climates, or you’ll notice a suggested serving temperature below 20C on bottle labels!

If you’re interested in chilled reds we’d recommend trying these lighter styles which we think work really well, especially on a hot sunny day like today!

We also have plenty of other choices that will taste great after some time in the fridge as well!
