Out of this Galaxy! | The Lakes Distillery
Just touched down from Cumbria, a rather special release: The Lakes Galáxia
This is the final bottling in the Whiskymaker’s Editions range. This stunning whisky unites the most admired characters from the series; a celebration of what has come before.
-
Tasting Note: With its intoxicating combination of seductively perfumed ginger and cocoa, creamy wood spice, candied pecans and manuka honey, the flavours are truly out of this world.
The Lakes Galáxia - Available at Caviste
Hattingley Valley Wines, one of our local wineries and just 25 minutes from our Newlyns shop, produce some of the finest fizz in England.
Predominantly known for their standout sparklings - of which the 2015 Blanc de Blancs is one of our MD’s favourite wines - each bottle is a testament to their dedication to excellence, from vine to bottle.
As well as their brilliant bubbles, Hattingley's still wines - Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Rosé - are outstanding. Each bottle highlights the skill of the team and the intense flavour profile that English wines are capable of delivering.
- Meet the Winemaker: Rob -
Rob MacCulloch MW is the head winemaker at Hattingley Valley.
With two decades of global experience, Rob specialises in producing sparkling, white, rosé, and red wines in various climates.
He’s also one of a very select group in the world as a Master of Wine.
Two tickets left!
Celebrating relationships in winemaking with a selection of bottles that we love.
From husband-and-wife teams to friends, brothers, sisters, and broader family networks, we will take you through a selection of some of the most exciting wines in our range.
We will introduce you to little-known producers whose stories encompass the many relationships we have in life.
From our friend Benoit Badoz, a 10th generation owner in South East France to a delightful couple in Portugal who have had 7 sons who call the farm and winery home. But it’s not just the classic partnerships we will explore. The Brothers Thorle from the Pfalz will grace the table, as well as two old friends whose love for their country, heritage, indigenous grape varieties and each other have made them two of the most exciting winemakers in Bulgaria, a wine region often misunderstood but steeped in thousands of years of grape growing history.

What the world
needs now,
is wine,
sweet wine…
(and love, of course).
Wine & love have gone hand-in-hand through history.
Made by families, secrets passed down from generation to generation.
We've put together a selection of bottles from some of our most-loved couples.
Hans & Therese Herzog - Hans Herzog | Marlborough, New Zealand
Swiss-born, but now down in Marlborough, New Zealand.
They could have settled on simply producing Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, but this dynamic couple produce an exquisite range of grapes from a relatively small plot. Viognier, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Bordeaux Varietals, Tempranillo, Zweigelt…’ plus many more!
Ann & James Frost - Quinta de Sant'Ana | Lisbon, Portugal
Just to the north of Lisbon you will find the “Fairytale Wine Kingdom” of Quinta de Sant’Ana. Overseen by James & Ann, their property is among the finest, and most beautiful, in the world. Deep and flavourful reds, aromatic and textured whites, plus a heavenly rose. Explore this range of treats that are exclusive to Caviste in the UK
Albert & Joanne Rousset - IDUN | Elgin, South Africa
The Rousset’s IDUN property was found through good fortune. Originally searching more for a ranch for horses, fate got in the way and they discovered this paradise in the Elgin Valley. Forget what you know about South African wines as you taste through these cool climate delights. Their Pinot Noir is one of our standout wines!
Olívia Bayés & David Marco - Marco Abella | Priorat, Spain
A real ‘labour of love’ in all senses. Olivia and David have both a strong emotional and physical connection to the land. Their vines count as some of the oldest in the Priorat region and it can be a painstaking process to harvest from their steepest plots. Such purity of flavour in these classical Priorat reds and whites.

Looking for the perfect wine for this late summer heatwave?!
We suggest this crisp and fresh treat from Alto Adige, Italy: Mists of Time.
Mostly unoaked Pinot Bianco with a touch of Chardonnay. This delectable, citrus fruit, mineral, mild spice, white wine shows a wonderful freshness, precision, and balance.
The stylistic intersection of Albarino, Gavi, Sancerre & Chablis, this astounds and captivates in equal measure.
-
The Lost Decade Wine Company & Caviste are delighted to support the @charliewalleruk, with a donation made to the charity for every bottle of Mists of Time sold.
The Charlie Waller Trust provides mental health training, resources, and consultancy, with a focus on young people.

It's September... which means it's Bordeaux Month!
Browse our range online or come into either of our shops - Newlyns or Overton - to try a bottle.
Our Bordeaux selection covers all of the styles and prices of this most famous region.
Join us for Bordeaux Month, in association with Bordeaux Wines UK.
#cavistewine #BordeauxWinesUK
Not that you ever needed any extra reason to come and visit us at Caviste… but this weekend - starting today - we’re offering two free bottles when you order a dozen wines.
Drop into our shops, either at Overton or Newlyns, mix your own dozen bottles (we can also help there!), and we will add on a bottle of Mists of Time Pinot Bianco (£22.00) and Sensale Nero D’Avola (£9.50) for free (t's & c's apply).
These crowd pleasers will compliment any bank holiday gathering!
The Mists of Time Pinot Bianco is crisp and fresh from northern Italy up by the Dolomite Mountains. Aromatic and a lively minerality, as we love to say it’s the “stylistic intersection of Albarino, Gavi, Sancerre & Chablis”.
While the Sensale Nero D’Avola is a sunshine-packed red from Sicily that you can’t not like. It’s bursting with wild berry richness and a touch of spice, typical of the fruit-forward varietal.
- Both wines will be open for tasting too! -
At Caviste Newlyns we have 8 bottles of wine to try in WES plus we have a free Macallan whisky tasting at The Spirits Room on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!
We'll be facing off the Macallan 12-Year-Old Double Cask and the Macallan 12-Year-Old Sherry Oak to see if we can settle once and for which Macallan takes top spot.
You may remember back in January our intrepid explorers, Bill and Mark, visited France.
They travelled through some incredible places, stopping off at a number of Caviste favourites along the way: Germar Breton (Champagne), Benoit Badoz (Jura), and a selection of wonderful properties throughout Burgundy (you can read their exploits here).
While in Burgundy, they stopped off at Domaine Belleville. It may be a name that’s familiar as we have stocked their ‘Les Hâtes’ Santenay for a couple of vintages. However, during this trip, the boys tasted through the plethora of wines produced on this historic estate.

Dazzled by the range, Mark and Bill snapped up all that they could: five whites, three reds, but only 240 bottles in total.
- Domaine Belleville Rully 'La Crée' 2021 | Chardonnay | Rully -
La Crée is from a site known for its stony terrain. Grown across five subplots, each with distinct orientations and vine ages ages.
A toasty and buttery bouquet. Dashes of peach and nectarine dance through a zesty, full-bodied, opulence and a delightful toasted bread nuance at its finish.
- Domaine Belleville Rully 1er Cru 'Chapitre' Blanc | Chardonnay | Rully Premier Cru -
Named for the vineyard’s proximity to the Saint-Vincent de Chalon Cathedral and the Chapter (Chapitre) of monks who inhabited it.
Ripe, stewed white fruit, and toasted bread on the nose. On the palate, its round, juicy character is complemented by a refreshingly long finish with a hint of salinity.
- Domaine Belleville Gevery-Chambertin 'Creux Brouillard' | Pinot Noir | Gevrey-Chambertain -
A vineyard boasting the perfect clay-limestone soils and aspect that result in the beautiful fruit purity and structure from these 80+ year old vines.
Blackberry and dark fruits, a hint of toast. Full of ripe fruit, intense and intricate, with earthy, blueberry flavours. The tannins are skilfully integrated res

While all of us at Caviste - and most of our customers - subscribe to our company mantra The Adventure of Wine, whenever we open a bottle of mature Bordeaux or ‘Claret’ there is a sense of homecoming.
It’s that feeling of reassurance in a wine that is traditional, not too fruity nor too heavy, has a savoury edge, and just goes so well English home cooking. That comforting hug in a mug (…or glass).
Please consider any, or all, of this wonderful quartet of mature wines, all from the Médoc, otherwise known as the ‘Left Bank’.
