Pierre Chainier Sauvignon Blanc

Pierre Chainier Sauvignon Blanc 11.5% RRP £13.00 Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley differs from that produced half a world away in New Zealand’s Marlborough region. The southern hemisphere Sauvignon tends to be punchier with tropical fruit flavours whereas its French counterpart zings with green apple and grapefruit. This refreshing example of the latter, from the wine estates of Pierre Chainier, is typical of the Loire style. Light and citrusy, it combines notes of gooseberry and white flowers on the nose with lemon and peach flavours on the palate. Try it with light appetisers, vegetable and fish dishes, or white meat. To celebrate the launch of their new 5 year old Single Grain Merchants’ Quay Irish Whiskey. have given us a bottle and two whiskey tumblers to be given away to one of our lucky followers.

Copeland’s new 5 year old Single Grain Irish whiskey is bottled at 46% abv, is non chill filtered, has no added colour and has a unique blend of finishes. Aged in American bourbon barrels for 5 years before being finished in a Muscatel dessert wine hogshead and Pedro Ximénez sherry butt.
Tasting notes are as follows -

• Nose- bright with strong notes of sweet fleshy fruits, caramelised apple, demerara sugar with a hint of elderflower and jaffa cakes.
• Palate – Sweet and spicy with mandarin and orchard fruits, dates in dulce de leche, honey drizzled black cherries with a hint of warm oak, sweet custard and granola.
• Finish – Dry sherry, brown caster sugar and mild spice.
