The time has come..
Today was our last day of trade out of our shop at Abakhan.
This is a longer post than normal, so strap in!
The Beer Buoys started as an idea of essentially two lads who wanted to sell local beer at decent prices. Over nearly 3 years we have achieved this and so much more, our little shed has seen hundreds of customers wander in and leave with the knowledge that these small independent breweries exist.
The little shed has served us extremely well, having fully converted it to a micro shop/pub. Sure, there were times when it was hotter than Death Valley and colder than the Arctic Tundra, but we stuck at it and continued to evolve our customer base, service and culture.
Alas, all good things must come to an end. Except this isnโt the end, this is another chapter. An evolution if you will.
Over the last few years we have found the shop supporting itself to the point of being self sufficient, however we always want to do better.
Over the last 12 months, our footfall into the shop has decreased, this may be for numerous reasons and we are sure everyone has their own opinions. However businesses do not succeed by continuation of the same model, as times change, businesses must adapt. We are closing the shop at Abakhan as this is delaying us in evolving to be what we see The Beer Buoys achieving. We have a lot of plans in place in what can potentially happen with the business, but it is very likely for 2025 we will stick to events, shows and pop up pubs.
We know this is probably disappointing news to a lot of our regulars and especially the Bike Nights that we host during the summer, however please know this is not the end and we will address these aspects individually.
For now though, we fill our tankard, pour a drink of the finest beverages that North Wales has to offer and raise it to the notion that we had an idea and ran with it. Maybe it wasnโt completely what we thought it was or that it headed to where it is, but an idea is a powerful thing if you have the motivation to pursue it.
We thank each and every one of you that has visited our shop over the last few years and hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and may 2025 be as exciting for you as weโre hoping it is for us.
We also thank our friends and family for stepping up and helping out with deliveries, events or the shop, without you it would not have been possible.
