🏆 The Keggies 🏆

Join us in celebrating some of the UK’s best breweries, as voted for by staff, customers and your ratings!

On Thursday 12th December, we’ll be pouring 10 different beer styles from 10 different breweries, shining a spotlight on those who have impressed us over the course of 2024.

Votes will be made by each St Albans staff member, 4 loyal patrons (with the highest number of Untappd check in’s in store) and Untappd’s highest rated beer this year based on ratings from within our shop!

This weekend we’ll have a postbox in our store for all customers to let us know which brewery impressed you the most this year. If your favourite brewery collects the most votes, we’ll be adding it to our tap list for The Keggies tap takeover 🏆🍺

Info on which beers we’ll be pouring will follow shortly!

Bishop’s Stortford’s next Artist’s Showcase!

Featured Artists:



Mia Harwood (b.1999, London) is a visual artist working with painting and tufting techniques
from her home in Hertfordshire. After graduating from Central Saint Martins with a BA in Fine
Art, Mia’s work has continued to incorporate a playful element of making, through the
arrangement of shapes and components.

Mia’s work highlights her fixation with memories, visually recreating the sensory experience of
love, intimacy and comfort. Nostalgic for mundane moments, Mia is worried they’ll pass her
by without being able to fully appreciate them. But at the core lies a deeper, gut-wrenching
nostalgia for her childhood; a time that is revisited through bright colours and playful,
innocent processes. Through the making of work, she refuses to let that part of life go.



Hello, I’m a freelance illustrator & artist from Sawbridgeworth.
Painting has always been a passion since childhood and I feel
blessed that I’ve managed to sell a few long the way! I work in oils
and often cut and prepare my own wooden boards to paint on.
My favourite artists are: Monet, Dali, Turner, Cezanne & Van Gogh. I
also love the work of many modern day artists.
I like to paint landscapes & wildlife, but I also love to do portraits.
Most of the paintings I’ve sold are commissions of houses and family
members or a special place that people like to visit.
I also tried my hand at painting outdoors or ‘en plein air’ as the
French call it. Being out in the elements, with no studio comforts can
be extremely challenging but very rewarding!
I’m thrilled to be asked by the lovely people at the Beer Shop in
Bishops Stortford to display my work at the exhibition on the 28 th
November! See you there.

“ I am a local woman, my name is Eileen Valder. I have been painting for recreation for about 20 years, my chosen medium is Acrylics. I like to paint landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes and I like to think of my style as being loose and on the abstract side. I am joint Chair and secretary of Bishop’s Stortford Art Society and belong to Newport Art Group and Saffron Walden Art Society also.”

“I have exhibited in many galleries up to and including the Centre Internationale d’Art Contemporain Paris. I have also painted several book covers for Fantasy and Science Fiction novels and have drawn “Future Shock” comic strips for 2000AD. I am the current holder of the Cooler Cup (BSAS Landscape Artist of the year)

BLOOD ON THE CLOCKTOWER NIGHT
Date: Tuesday 29th October
Time: 20:00 - 22:30
Location: Beer Shop | St Albans

Join us for an evening of mystery, just in time for Halloween 🎃

On Tuesday 29th October, Beer Shop | St Albans will be hosting Blood on the Clocktower, a thrilling murder mystery game that will keep you guessing until the very end!

Hosted by resident game master Dan, expect tension, twists and turns throughout the night as the game unfolds🧩

The evening will begin once our shop has closed at 8:00pm, with the first game starting at roughly 8:15pm and the second at around 9:30pm.
The bar will remain open until 10:15pm, however, purchasing of drinks will only be available before/between games.

Costumes aren’t required but are more than welcome 👻

The Kernel have been a constant in our stores over the years, due to their incredible beers and the brilliant team behind them! It’s been a wonderful 15 years working with them to showcase some of the best beers coming out of London, we look forward to many more years of excellent brewing in their newly opened taproom!

STORTFORD NEWS!

We’re very excited to announce our first Artist’s Showcase event on Thursday September 26th!

+ Pizzas 5pm - 8:30pm

This will be a free monthly event exhibiting different artists from all ages and backgrounds.

Each month new artists will show off their latest masterpieces in Stortfords warehouse space.

The Artist’s work will also be available to purchase

Septembers featured artists include the wonderful Chrystal Fenwick and Phoebe Birch



Below is a bio of each artist in their own words

Chrystal -

Hey, I’m Chrystal! 

I started painting in 2023 initially for me but I fell in love with it & have been painting ever since. I joined the BS art society and have met some lovely people along the way!

The most rewarding part of my journey so far is our sessions at Hazel end with the amazing windhill21 students & the residents. 

I doubt myself every single day but after selling my first painting I now have one in Ireland & I have lost count of how many in the UK. 

I know I should write some meaningful message about art & mediums but there isn’t one. Get creative, be weird & never grow up! 

Phoebe -

Phoebe Birch is a young and upcoming artist, she has just graduated The Kings Foundation (The Royal Drawing School) and is about to continue her studies this year in The University of Oxford for a BA in Fine Art. She has had pieces displayed in The Royal Academy of Arts and The Garrison Chapel.

Phoebe Birch’s work focuses on the everday life of the working class depicting such scene’s with the importance it deserves. She aims to turns these scenes from things easily overlooked into something that can be treasured and admired.
