In 1998 the SYMINGTON family and legendary Bordeaux winemaker Bruno Prat joined forces to make a landmark red from the Douro. Chryseia is vinified with prolonged maceration, in the Bordeaux manner, at the small , specialist winery at Roriz and then aged for 14 months in new 400 lt French oak within the Quinta’s schist-walled barrel cellar. The name Chriseya is the Greek translation of Douro, literally “of gold”, and symbolises the union of a noble Portuguese vineyard heritage with an equally rich Bordeaux winemaking tradition.
