Good Morning all.
We would like to firstly thank all of our wonderful, kind and patient customers who have continued to support us and each other.
We are extremely proud to be part of such a caring and close knit community, and during these times of stress especially with Christmas approaching it really shows.
Unfortunately however, we have had quite a few incidents lately with customers from outside of the village becoming abusive and even aggressive with staff.
This also includes an incident in which a woman repeatedly swore and shouted at staff in front of children even after the parents had asked the woman to stop.
This kind of behaviour and abuse towards staff absolutely will not be tolerated and our staff have the right to refuse service at any point.
Common issues that have provoked this behaviour are our staff refusing to serve people without ID and also the paypoint and parcel machine.
Our policy is to ID anyone who looks under the age of 25, unfortunately we do serve many people and especially as we bring on new staff we do ask that if you are lucky enough to look under 25 that you do bring your ID and that all of those who accompany you have ID. This is because staff as individuals can be personally fined as well as the business if we provide alcohol to those underage even if the person buying has ID.
With regards to the parcels and pay point we are extremely sorry for any hassle caused as we too have encountered poor service.
We are looking to end our contract with pay point as we do not actually make any money from the services we provide, it actually costs us, but is supposed to bring in custom however we have found this is not the case for the most part, and although we were happy to provide a helpful service to our customers we are unfortunately finding that staff are being verbally abused and having their time and other customers time wasted for things that are out of ours and our staffs control.
Again we absolutely do not accept abusive or rude language towards our staff nor aggressive behaviour particularly from grown men towards our female members of staff trying to intimidate them, and we thank all our regular customers who have been nothing but patient and understanding, and those who have defended our staff when they have been met with foul language.
