Although we are busiest at Christmas, gifting isn't just for the festive season. We work with numerous local businesses who use us for client gifts. This week we have been working with Dylan and the team at FIT47 Ltd. We love meeting with our corporate clients for tastings.

When you work with us and you are local, we invite you and your team to come in and enjoy some delicious goodies. You can start with a cup of tea or coffee using the same locally roasted coffee or blended tea that will be enjoyed by those receiving the hamper. Maybe a handmade shortbread with a dash of salted caramel sauce. Chocolate, savoury snacks and even some gin. If it is open, you can try it. And often, after trying you leave with more than you expect like Frank from Crooksy's Couriers who came to design his hamper and left with that plus a variety of other treats!

The key to good gifting is to make yours stand out from the crowd and this is why we spend so much time selecting our producers. Our criteria is that they have to be based in our area (Herts & Essex) and they have to be smaller businesses. We are incredibly happy to see local producers in mainstream supermarkets but we like to work with the little guys, build strong relationships and also allow people to discover new and different brands that they may not otherwise try. The packaging has to be of a high standard – if we are sending a hamper to a 5 -star hotel then the label can’t be written in biro, use a ton of plastic or have a typo. But, most importantly the product has to be of a high quality and taste delicious. We don’t just base it on personal opinion; when we receive a sample we ask other to try it and give us their feedback. Then, on all our hamper boxes, we add ribbon in your corporate colours and using your logo or gift message.

We spend a lot of time taking photos in our office because all the packages we design are bespoke to our customers. We consider budget, brief and dietary requirements. In the past 3 days alone, we have worked on quotations for a charity, a care company, travel agent, mortgage advisor, business coach, accountant, financial advisor and a staging and events company. Some only have a £10 budget and some £200 but we still put the exact same care and effort into each one. We have designed packages suitable for Vegans, Kosher diets, even a Keto friendly hamper.

We don’t just work with corporates, lots of people come in, build their own boxes or buy individual items. We stock over 400 different products from gin to beer, chocolate to charcuterie, even pasta. And it is all from Herts and Essex. Yes, we really do produce pasta here! We also specialise in custom printed ribbon and can add names and gift messages of choice.

We like to think we are good at what we do and we work hard to make gifts stand out from the crowd – printed ribbon, personal gift messages, we even send you photos and videos when we put together your gifts. But, most importantly we only work with small, local producers. The majority don’t have a presence on the High Street and many rely on wholesale customers like us.

Who spotted us last week on ITV News talking about the budget? We are always keen to have news crews come in to visit us because not only does it allow us to share our views but it also champions the producers we work with and lets people know we exist.

The impact of the budget on small businesses is going to be widespread throughout our industry and so many people we are talking to are concerned about the effects it will have on their growth. Now more than ever it is important to shout about and support small, local businesses.

Happy 4th Birthday to us!

Today Stort Valley Gifting celebrates 4 years of officially opening to the public.
The 19th October has been a significant date for Emma over the years. 27 years ago she lost, very unexpectedly, a truly incredible lady, her Nanny Gwen. She then completed on her first property on the same date.

We have come a long way in 4 years; from a small SafeStore unit to our premises today where we have our showroom, events space, offices, tasting room and warehouse.

In those 4 years we have changed drastically, going from a focus on alcohol to specialising in local food and drink produce. We have been recognised as one of the Small Business Britain most inspirational businesses in the UK, Emma has been featured as a F:Entrepreneur and, most recently, we were awarded Micro Business of the Year by the FSB

There are far too many people to thank for supporting us in our 4 years in business, our team, Emma’s family who always stock our freezer at Christmas with home cooked meals for when we are too busy to cook, our suppliers and producers, but most importantly all of our loyal customers who have ordered from us, shouted about us on social media, recommended us, and more. We truly appreciate it.

The power of customer feedback. Kellie Hopkins posted in Bishop’s Stortford Community asking for recommendations for corporate gift hampers. Kellie is a Estate Agent who has recently moved to the area and prides herself on her personal service. Several of our lovely customers commented with our details and we were delighted to put together some hamper boxes using Kellie's branding and a selection of local produce.

Not only is our free networking back but we are also celebrating our 4th birthday so there will be cake!

Our 2nd office dog Ripley is celebrating her 6th birthday today. Ripley belongs to one of our team and has only recently joined the Stort Valley Gifting team on a full time basis. Her days consist of sleeping under Emma's desk and occasionally greeting visitors.

Today we will be spoiling Rips with some treats - apparently she has already enjoyed some delicious local lamb liver from Foxholes Farm Shop & Butchery for breakfast.

What are you up to on Saturday 14th September? We know where we are – at our amazing local Harlow Food & Drink Festival

We are passionate about local food and drink and are proud to partner with Accuro (Care Services) and Redchurch Brewery in the Harlow Food & Drink Fest which raises much needed funds for a superb local charity. Now in its 3rd year, this event attracts around 1000 visitors who enjoy tasting the delights that local producers offer. This year we even have a chilli eating competition!

Come down to Redchurch from 12-4 and see what there is to offer – you will find us with not only our range of spirits from Riverside Spirits and Spirits Co. but also a selection of delicious locally produced foods including the infamous The Kebab Club marindes, charcuterie from The Greek Farmer mayonnaise and oils from Chiltern Cold Pressed Rapeseed Oil , and much more!
