Bouchard Finlayson Wines
Bouchard Finlayson are situated just outside Hermanus in the Walker bay region. In South African wine-making terms they are relatively young, established in 1989. The experience that was brought to this partnership by Paul Bouchard of Burgundy acclaim eclipses the youth of the estate.
Their Crocodiles Lair Chardonnay is a multi-award winner and pays homage to the experience from Burgundy. 93 points by Tim Atkin Master of Wine, a Silver by the IWSC, a Silver medal in Decanter Wine awards and 4.5 stars by the John Platter guide are a few of the 2018’s awards.
In addition we have just received the Blanc de Mer, a light refreshing blend that is dominated by Riesling. I think this is an excellent option for those lazy summer afternoons in the garden and great value for money.

Devil's Peak
Devil's Peak is an epic viewpoint, mountain, training ground, guardian over the city bowl in Cape Town. Every morning you can see lines of people ascending the fire road and late into the evening you can see firefly lights making their way across the mountain. On calmer sunny days you will see multi-colored paragliders swooping across the face of the conical point as they descend down into Sea Point.
Devil's Peak is also a range of beers originally produced in the heart of Cape Town just below Devil's Peak. Devil's Peak beers are brewed with only the ingredients you would expect to see in a beer - all natural ingredients and a lot of skill. It's an award-winning brewery that are fast elevating the expectations of South African beer drinkers.
In essence - it's good, very good and when one of our customers tried it on the weekend he said, "One of the best!". I'll take that.

If you enjoy a lighter red and similar to the inhabitants of Beaujolais they think nothing of chilling a good red. I have suggested 2 red wines that may take your fancy.
De Toren Delicate: £15.49 each or on offer at £83.64 for a 6-bottle case. This is a serious big hitter of a winery that have used all their skill to produce this super fresh red. A friend asked me how I would describe it, I said “it’s like a good chunky red, but has a fresh lift on the finish”. How? They age the Malbec in stainless steel separately and the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in French oak. Not easy but a great result! It’s a great surprise and perfect for an early evening red to share with friends.
Cape Collective Rad Red: £16.95 or a 6-bottle case for ££75 – huge saving of £26.70. This is a mysterious wine with great presentation. The bottle is blank – nothing, no writing or labels. All the info is on the wrapper which you can peel open and explore the story. A great little discovery wine from two surfers based in Cape Town.
It’s a light wine with all strawberries and cherry notes, and I would definitely suggest serving chilled.
