AKA the biggest and best day of the year.
Not many people know the origins of Father’s Day. On the 15th June, 1885, all of the fathers in the world congregated at Rochdale Town Hall to discuss how they’re unfairly represented in society, in a Mother’s Day dominated world, and took to the streets in protest. They drank heavily and threw eggs at horse drawn carriages until dusk.
From that day on (it was the day after) Father’s Day was born.
And now all of the mothers and older children are forced to buy gifts in celebration. We sell such gifts here, in the shop, such as this wonderful 6 beer gift pack.

Until now myself and Lou and have sat in a dark room and listening to white noise from dusk til dawn, on a Monday. But no more. The glory days are over. We are now open every Monday, to do rather the same things we do for the rest of the week, but just on a Monday now.

He’s gonna take some getting used to. As you can see, he doesn’t like touching, which might make making coffee quite hard. And boy, does he ask a lot of questions. Seems quite emotional too. But it’s a learning curve for us both and I’m sure after a bedding in period, we’ll be fine.

It’s Ol’ Shinys last shift today. The old girls getting upgraded to a double tomorrow (we hope).
We’ve had some good times. Sure she’s blocked up a couple of times but nothing an entire unblocking of the pipes, which meant bringing everything out, just when the World Cup final was on, couldn’t fix.
I’ll remember each and every coffee she’s made, for the rest of my life.
I’ll miss her whirrs and silly, loud noises as she departs to that great coffee shop in the sky.
