As if iced coffee isn't already the ultimate warm-weather pick-me-up, this frappé is made with Nutella for extra wow factor!! 🤩 🤩 🤩

It's ridiculously easy to throw together. To make enough for 4, start by dissolving 12 tsp instant coffee (we used Nescafé Original) in 800ml freshly boiled water.

When the coffee is cool, add it to a blender along with 400ml milk, 4 generous tbsp of Nutella and about 20 ice cubes. Whizz it all together until the ice is slushy and the coffee is frothy.

All that's left is to divide the frappé between 4 tall glasses and top with squirty cream before garnishing with crumbs of chocolate flake. Bring it on!! 😎

Planning a picnic or garden party? Keep it old school with these brilliant egg mayo sarnies.

To make enough for 4 people, you’ll need to hard-boil 6 eggs. Mash them in a bowl with 3 tbsp mayonnaise (check our low prices on Hellmann's), along with 1 tbsp crème fraîche and 2 tsp Dijon mustard (or 1 tsp English).

Adding a bit of crunch can be good – try 1 stick of finely diced celery, ½ a bulb of finely diced fennel, or 4-6 finely chopped radishes. Something green is good, too, so consider adding watercress, chives or regular cress.

Season with plenty of black pepper and some salt and you're good to go – just don't forget to add slices of cucumber when you're making up your sarnies. And it's always a good idea to make more mix than you need as they are brilliant in packed lunches for the weekdays, too.

Dead Man's Fingers started life as the in-house rum at the famous Rum & Crab Shack in St Ives (its name comes from crab's long, finger-like gills, which are usually discarded uneaten) 🦀 🦀

So it's right that the evocative aroma of Cornish saffron cake is one of the first things to hit you as you open the bottle. Other notable niffs from this unconventional rum include nutmeg, vanilla, orange… and even PX sherry ice cream!

This thrifty corned beef & potato curry is inspired by a Trinidadian recipe. It's a quick and easy tea that makes the most of everyday ingredients – brilliant for midweek 😋 😋

It's simple to make. Place a large frying pan on a medium heat. Add a slick of vegetable oil, then toss in 1 chopped onion and 1 tsp chilli flakes, along with a pinch or two of salt. Cook, stirring, until the onions are softened – about 8 mins.

Add 3 crushed cloves of garlic, and cook, stirring, for a minute or so, then add 2 tbsp curry powder and 1 tbsp turmeric. Stir to combine, then cook for 1 min, stirring. Add 100ml water, then cook, stirring, for 4-5 mins, until most of the water has evaporated and you’re left with a thick paste.

Add 300g cubed potato, stir to coat in the paste, then tip in a further 500ml water. Cover and cook for 6 mins, or until the potatoes are mostly cooked.

Break a 350g tin of corned beef (we used Princes) into rough chunks and add this to the pan, along with 1 tsp dried thyme. Stir to mix through, then cover the pan and cook for a further 6 mins, or until the potatoes are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

Add a good squeeze of lime juice and serve with rice, naan or poppadoms (or all three 😉), along with some mango chutney and a Caribbean hot pepper sauce (such as Encona) on the side 🌶️🌶️

In Part 2 of our Occasional Series on G&T, we're bigging up these delicious strawberry G&Ts, which are just the thing for easing into Wimbledon's middle weekend.

The secret to them lies in making a strawberry syrup. For enough for 2, add 150g hulled and roughy chopped strawbs 🍓 🍓 🍓 to a pan with 40g sugar, 80ml water and a big squeeze of lemon 🍋 juice. Bring it to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 mins.

Let it cool slightly, then whizz it up in a blender. If you want to go proper posh, you can sieve it to remove the strawberry pips – either way, set it aside to cool fully.

When you're ready to serve, add 5 or 6 ice cubes to a couple of tall glasses, pour a 40ml shot of strawberry syrup into each, then a 40ml shot of gin (we used Bombay Sapphire). Top up with tonic water (about 100ml), add slices of cucumber and lime if you wish, and let the Centre Court action commence! 🎾 🎾 🎾

These old-school strawberry milkshakes are exactly the kind of thing you'd expect to find in an old-fashioned café or diner.

What's more, they're a brilliant way to use up leftover strawberries 🍓 🍓 🍓 and a great excuse to save the pennies on our low-priced Cravendale milk.

To make enough for 4, add 500g hulled and roughly chopped strawberries to a bowl with 50g caster sugar and the juice from half a lemon. Let it stand for 15 mins, then tip into the bowl of a blender, along with 500ml milk and 250g vanilla ice cream. Clip on the lid and give it a good whizz until it's smooth and frothy.

Divide the milkshake between glasses, garnishing each with a few strawberry halves – and the obligatory red-stripy straws!

Char-striped chicken, tossed with squeaky beans and penne pasta in a quick crème fraîche and pesto sauce – this supper is light, tasty, and ideal for a summer weekend 🌞 😉

It's easy to throw together too. Start by bashing flat a couple of chicken breasts. Place them on a board between 2 layers of clingfilm, then give them a few smart smacks with the base of a heavy pan – you want them about 1cm thick all over.

Make a marinade with 2 tbsp olive oil, 2 crushed garlic cloves, the juice and grated zest of 1 lemon and ½ tbsp finely chopped rosemary. Lay the chicken in the marinade and let it rest for a couple of hours.

When you're ready to eat, place a griddle pan on a high heat. When it is really hot, lay on the chicken (you might have to do this in 2 goes). Cook until there are deeply coloured char lines on the underside, then flip and cook on the other side. Remove from the heat and rest for 5 mins, before slicing across the grain into chunky strips.

Cook 500g penne pasta, as per the pack instructions. Just before it is cooked, dip a mug into the pan to collect a cupful of the starchy cooking water, then drain the pasta into a colander, return it to the pan, toss with olive oil to stop it sticking, and cover.

While the pasta is cooking, add 200g topped and tailed green beans to a pan of boiling salted water and cook for 4 minutes, or until softened but still firm and squeaky. Drain into a sieve, then run under a cold tap to cool down (this helps keep their firm texture and vivid green colour).

Add the beans to the cooked pasta, then spoon in 100g crème fraîche and 2 tbsp basil pesto (we used Sacla). Squeeze over a little lemon juice, season well with black pepper and salt (if needed), drizzle over a little extra-virgin olive oil and mix together well. You want the pasta to be coated in a kind of loose, glossy sauce – add a little of the reserved pasta cooking water if it’s too dry.

Tip the pasta into a serving dish. Lay on the strips of chicken, pouring over any resting juices, then serve.
