Now that the dust has settled and we’re comfortably in the new year. We thought it would be a great idea to get back up and running with our famous tastings! (And this one is a belter!)

Ever tried English wine? Ever even heard of English wine? Well are on their way and they want to tell you all about it. Blackbook are an urban winery based out of Battersea in London. Grown from their love of cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, they have hit the ground running doing just that with several vintages of both already under their belts.

That’s as much as we’ll give away until they’re here to tell their story. But until then, if any of this interests you, we have a waiting list live now with tickets going live next week.

Pop an email over to [email protected] telling us how many folk you want to bring (min. 2, max. 4) and we’ll get in touch with ticket links and more info. There is a VERY limited number of seats for this so get your name in early or live to regret it!!

The big day is here and we hope you’re drinking plenty of wine, eating many mince pies and watching The Muppets Christmas Carol over and over again.

We want to just take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who ventured down to Curious or Bochka, even during the various extreme forms the weather was taking. This has been a very big year for us, we have two shops now in case you haven’t heard! The love and support you have all given us this year has been nothing short of extraordinary, not only have you helped a small business thrive but you have made us feel like such a welcome part of the community in Shawlands.

Now it’s time for us to have a well deserved rest. Have a merry Christmas and we’ll see you on the other side before Hogmanay!

Xmas is just round the corner and you’ve got the turkey, the parsnips, the sprouts, the crackers, you’ve even gotten the nut roast for the vegetarian that’s coming this year, but have you sorted out the wine yet? Have you???
Well, worry not because we’ve got you absolutely sorted this year with our festive bags of wine!!

This year we have them in bags of 3 or 6 wines.

The 3 includes:

- Osmin Conservatoire ‘Mauzac’ white
- Kanarakis Agiorgitiko red
- Maison Antech Blanquette de Limoux bubbles

With the bag of 6 you get (on top of the previous 3):

And(!) as if that wasn’t enough, if you want to swap your bubbles out for a proper bottle of champers, then for just £30 we will include Jean de Villaré Brut “Grande Reserve”!

We are open every day until Christmas Eve so you’ve still got plenty of time… but the clock is ticking!

CURIOUS HOGMANAY PARTY ANNOUNCEMENT!

It’s only the bloody end of 2024… Time flies eh?
Big, big changes for us this year, what with being two completely different shops now. But these things only happen because of your continued support and love, so thank you for that!!

So with the end of the year on the horizon, we’re gonna party like its 1999… sorry, 2025!

We will be running normal service from noon until 5pm so you can have a little glass with us or two before we close to change over for the ticketed party at 9pm.

The Hogmanay party will kick off at 9pm until 1am!

You will be greeted with a glass of banging bubbles and throughout the night be treated to a selection of fine wines handpicked by our Curious team with the theme being “Staff Picks of 2024”.
In addition to the wines, we will provide grazing platters of cured meats and cheese (please advise of any dietary requirements and we will do our best to accommodate), and of course, we will see in the bells with another glass of bubbly goodness.

In addition to that, Phillie’s next door will have drag queen CJ Banks hosting with DJ Rosehips rounding the night off till the end, should you decide you want to have a dance!

Tickets are £60pp and as always, we have very VERY limited spaces and will be operating on a first come, first served basis

Hear ye! Hear ye!
The Curious Liquids and Bochka festive opening hours are here. Look at them in all their resplendent glory. Now you know when and where to get all your goodies (provided you pick a day we’re open).

Sean has also told me to let you know that we won’t be splitting Curious opening hours between Shop only and Bar only this year, we will be Shop and Bar at all times (provided you pick a day we’re open).

For our final spirit tasting of the year, we thought we’d put together something special for you;
Join us for a night of gin with the excellent Secret Garden! Anyone that knows Curious Liquids knows that we love these guys. A (literally) homegrown distillery based just outside of Edinburgh, Secret Garden distil all their gin with botanicals from their eponymous garden. Their lovely infusions range from lemon verbena and lavender to Scottish-grown Pinot Noir grapes! Yes, you read that correctly. Scottish Pinot Noir, which they have now vinified into vermouth.
We figured, hey, we’ve got vermouth, we’ve got gin, let’s get some negronis on the go!
Over the course of the night, we’ll sample a negroni made with Secret Garden gin & vermouth then a range of gins, including the brand new Winter Gin, with a selection of tonics & sodas.
Nibbles will be included with the ticket, and teas & Turkish coffees will be available in Bochka after the event.
Please note that this is a small, intimate event. Tables seat 2 people each, so larger parties will be split up. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate dogs.
We ask that you please make us aware of any allergies your party may have ahead of the event.

As of noon tomorrow you’ll be able to get your hands on the freshest pressed wine of the year the Northern Hemisphere has to offer.

This year we have four Beauj fresh off the press for you:

1. : by now, you’ll know Couvette well and what’s not to love? Certified organic, Beauj perfection… we know you love Couvette;

2. : we enticed you with Piron last week. If you want a classic Beauj and appreciate elegance, this is for you;

3. & 4. : new to us at Curious courtesy of , we have two Beauj Nouveaus from Louis Tete for ya.
One super fresh, minimum intervention Sans Sufre and the super juicy Le Pot. The epitome of adult juice.

Get them before they’re gone!

A massive thank you to all those that attended our Winter Extravaganza this year! We had an amazing day and we hope you did too.
It was bigger and better than we could have possibly expected and that is only possible because of your love and support.

With Beauj Nouveaux week coming along faster and faster each year it seems, we’ve tried to get a little bit ahead this year because Beaujolais is for life not just for Christmas.

We have here, 3 juicy champs which we reckon will be more than enough to push you through until the nouveaux’s arrive. All coming from Dominique Piron showcasing just how different this wee grape can be across different areas within a region or different lengths of ageing.

We’ve got you: An fancy Fleurie, a gastro Beauj and a vintage Morgon.

So come and chat to us if you want to know more cause as you can see, we’re absolutely gassed to have them here.

This is a special one, folks!

Join us at Bochka for an evening, sit down tasting with one of the best distilleries in Scotland.

We’ll be offering a range of wonderful spirits from Isle of Raasay distillery, including a gin & tonic upon arrival and then four single malts.

Gregor Hunter from the distillery will share Raasay’s story and talk us through each spirit as we go. Nibbles will be included with the ticket, and teas & Turkish coffees will be available in Bochka after the event.

Please note that this is a small, intimate event. Tables seat 2 people each, so larger parties will be split up. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate dogs.

We here at Curious Liquids, in support of , are asking for £5 donations and in return you will be entered into a prize giveaway where 3 lucky winners will receive a bottle of wine, a beer and some rice crackers to snack on.

One of our Sean’s close friends is a fundraiser for and as all of us (excluding Jess) already have a moustache we thought a better way to offer our support was to raise proceeds for the charity through this giveaway. All proceeds from the donations will be donated in full to Movember at the end of the month.

ANNUAL DEYA STEADY ROLLING STRATA RELEASE!!

Big news fresh from , today marks the annual release of their Steady Rolling Strata beers.

A homage to their, to quote, “most important beer - Steady Rolling Man”, these beers are only released once a year.
The Strata range are the same malt base as the Steady Rolling Man, but they sub out the usual hops in place of a single variety Strata hops to really showcase their quality!
Available as an IPA or Double IPA, get across to Bochka and get them before they’re all gone! Trust me, they won’t last long!

In addition to this release, we’ve topped up on all the Deya classics and the Deya Specials release “Service Please!” We’ve gone Deya daft, so get to Bochka go Deya daft with us.

A massive “thank you” to everyone that attended our inaugural Wine Tasting evening at our new shop Bochka.

It was an absolute pleasure to host you all and we really appreciate the kind words and support. We really can’t do these nights without you, so we look forward to welcoming you to future events.

A special thanks must be extended to our amazing rep Greg for his knowledge and terrific presenting of the wines. I, (Sean), like to think his professionalism and attention to detail combined well with my “enthusiastic” ramblings.

Another massive thank you to Jack for filming/ photographing the evening. In many ways I am indebted to you… as you may have seen from the photos above, I completely forgot to take any photos of the evening… so thank god you were there to chronicle the evening. I can’t wait to see your final cuts.

So in lacking any photos of my own, you’ll all have to make do with a lovely picture of some vines… I spent that long talking about them last night, it felt only right.

Anyway, keep your eyes peeled on Insta for any future events. We have some exciting ideas in the pipelines.

With all this exciting new stock at Curious, we thought we’d treat you to a menu that showcases all these amazing new wines!
