Teaninich Distillery, located near the town of Alness in the Scottish Highlands, is a hidden treasure with a distinctive approach to whisky-making. Established in 1817, Teaninich has a long history, yet it remains one of the lesser-known distilleries in the region. What sets Teaninich apart is its use of a unique mash filter system, which gives its whiskies a bright, crisp character. While much of its production goes into blends, Teaninich's single malts are nonetheless celebrated for their fresh and vibrant profile.

Just a very short ferry ride from the Isle of Islay, in the Inner Hebridean Islands of western Scotland, the rugged and sparsely populated Isle of Jura is home to the distillery which bears its name. Founded in 1810, dismantled in 1901 and reborn on the same site in 1963, Jura embodies the spirit of the island and its 200 or so inhabitants. Known for its subtle yet distinctive maritime influence, Jura produces whiskies that capture the essence of the island’s wild landscapes and its strong, close/knit community.

The community learning centre "Sak Thong White Spirit Phrae" in Sa-aeap, Phrae Province, Thailand, has transitioned from clandestine to legal alcohol production, significantly impacting local economic sustainability. The centre, led by Khun Sai, Kanyapak Omkaew, has developed unique herbal-infused spirits using traditional methods. The community, with over 200 producers, now legally produces and sells alcohol, generating substantial revenue. The community contributes over 1 billion baht ($30 million) annually in taxes.

The "Sura Sak Thong Phrae" local liquor brand in Phrae Province, Thailand, has transitioned from an illegal operation to a legally recognized business over the past 200 years. Kanyapak Omkaew, the current owner, legally registered the family's traditional distillation methods in 2002. Their products, which include various types of liquor made from local agricultural products, sell hundreds of thousands of bottles monthly. The business has significantly boosted the local economy by employing community members and enhancing agricultural value.
