On Friday & Saturdays we’re a Wine bar serving curated Charcuterie & Cheese boards and more that pair perfectly with drinks with friends. WineHub, Devon’s online wine store was established in 2017. After years of buying blind in supermarkets and being constantly disappointed, Arthur spent two years in Hong Kong learning the Wine trade and experiencing the vast world of wines which he found needn’t

be so expensive for the good stuff!

“ I learnt so much and will be forever grateful to my colleagues at Winerack Hong Kong for introducing me to the world of wine and after visiting so many Wine expos and meeting so many potential suppliers I just thought it would be amazing to be able to bring this back home to Devon” Arthur Lai, 2017

We have tried all our wines before choosing to represent them, so you are never getting something we wouldn't love ourselves! Since we have tried them all we’re also qualified to recommend based on individual tastes. We pride ourselves on value for money where we believe award winning, complex, unique wines can be enjoyed by everyone.

“A great wine is one that you drink once and remember forever”

Natural wines and Vineyard Safari!

Yesterday we took a team trip to to attend the Naturally SW Wine & Cider trade fair.

It was a duo affair as only Gemma could make it but it was the perfect opportunity for Arthur to teach Gemma the world of wines via tasting! (100% the best way to learn)

As we arrived we quickly checked in, grabbed our glasses and said hi to Tom & Charlie from Sandridge and did a quick tasting of their range (some of which we stock already) before heading to our masterclass with Alex from .shop in Exeter.

Then we headed back to do more tasting! It was a great atmosphere tasting in the winery and of course meeting so many Devon drinks businesses!

Gemma of course enjoyed the vast variety of wines and ciders to taste. It was eye opening for her to discover characteristics of wines she liked and disliked whilst being able to taste and compare so many one after another which she felt gave her a much better perspective of wines and how they differ.

The highlight we both agreed on the way home was definitely the Vineyard “Safari” (safari because of the safari style bench seated Land Rover) driven by Oak the winery dog and hosted by Duncan, the Head winemaker and CEO of Sandridge Barton. Apart from the epic views from the vineyards Duncan shared his vast knowledge of wine & viticulture whilst we rambled amongst the vines in the sun. We were also shown the new plots that have been planted and the different methods they’re experimenting with as new methods of farming become available.

We definitely discovered a few new wines, and ciders!that we’re keen to at to the range but we’d also highly recommend a visit to Sandridge Barton!

Gemma’s personal recommendation is to go to wine tastings as it’s 100% the best way to explore the world of wine!

Not all Cheese boards were made equal….

With ours, we thought ahead and added more nibbles so the grazing can last till the final sip and moment of chat.

It’s always 3 cheeses which might change as we discover new ones that make us say “we need to have that!” At the moment it’s the delicious Devon blue harmoniously full flavoured, the Devon cheddar that was so good the French bought it, the Tickler and a Brie that’s made smaller so it matures with a creamier texture.

We pair these with a hand full or so of mixed nuts which we roast and salt ourselves with a few drops of dried cranberries to add sweetness. There’s a little bunch of grapes to cleanse the palate with juicy deliciousness and a little selection of mixed olives marinated by our friends at the for the Mediterranean vibes.

Where’s the crackers? Well we take it a step further and serve with a freshly baked whole baguette of Gallego a Galician style bread which we love.

If you pair all that 👆🏼 together with a glass or 3 of wine & good company it’s ethereal.

Volunteer bottling day! (Well it’s for love and wine 😉)

On Monday Arthur drove all the way up to Worcestershire to help our friends at do some bottling!

It was a bit all hands on deck as soon as he arrived, straight away helping with rinsing the bottles and putting them on the bottle trees to dry.

For starters it was corking duty but after lunch it was time to master the wine udders! It was definitely adrenaline inducing kind of work trying to keep an eye on 6 bottles being filled at a time! But by 3:30/4pm we had bottled just over 1.3k bottles of 3 different wines.

But just before leaving obviously the vineyard had to be checked out. The vines were definitely awake and growing! Winemaker Chris thinks they’re only a week or two from flowering. The wild flower project between the vines were beautiful and so were the new hopefully soon to be finished shepherd huts!

Imagine enjoying a beautiful summers evening among the vines!

We can’t wait to visit when they’re ready!

This pairs perfectly with the long sunny evenings!

A delicious blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier this Sharpham rosé just screams freshly picked summer berries on the nose and the palate is fresh and inviting with the berry flavours adding a touch of sweetness.

Best thing about this Rosé? It’s made right here in Devon! By the guys at , the home of Sharpham wines. It’s situated near Paignton right by the river Dart with incredible views. 100% recommend a visit when you’re in Devon!

It’s on an introductory offer too, at just £17.

We’ll be taking a short break to get ourselves ready for the relaunch of Wine Hub as a Wine/Coffee Shop & Tasting room.

We will be focusing as Wine shop with seating for coffee and cakes and of course wines. So we can be your daytime retreat as you decide what wine you need for dinner or the rest of the week! 😁

In fact Arthur is heading to for a barista course on Thursday just to make sure he knows how to make more than his favourite Black coffee 😅.

Then on Fridays & Saturdays we’ll open evenings for you to sit back and enjoy a wine from our selection of 180+ or perhaps you fancy a beer? Because we have plenty of locally brewed beers too! We’re finalising the wine bar evening menus and will be posted asap.

So our soft launch will be on Saturday 25th May and to celebrate we’ll have over 6 bottles open to taste!

Ps. Keep an eye out though as we’re currently working on something for the very near future…. Let’s call it Project F 😉

Join us for our final weekend of food!

Brunches Lunches or drinks and grazing boards.

After this weekend we’ll only serve a light food menu for our wine bar nights on Saturdays. Whilst we focus on our wine shop and coffees during weekdays.

Of course we will continue to host our wine tasting evenings which if you want to know more about head to our website www.wine-hub.co.uk

The next wine tasting topic is Natural and Orange wines… madly interesting as we discuss winemaking choices and the history of these styles of wine.

🚨Customer Notice🚨

After a totally different April than we had in mind due to Amy’s knee injury and surprisingly immediate surgery, we’ve had a lot of time to think and reflect.

So we’ve decided to cut back on food and focus on being a wine shop and our wine tasting events.
We’re still in finalising stages but we will still serve coffees and cakes during the weekdays and on Fridays & Saturdays we will open in the evenings as a wine bar with snacks and sharing boards to enjoy with your drinks.

Our final day for serving our current food menu will be Sunday 12th May. (Subject to change depending on if our team members can find alternative employment elsewhere earlier.)

We just want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all those who have enjoyed our food the last few years. It’s been an incredibly hard decision but the current environment and our vision of where we want Wine Hub to go means it was one we had to make.

Hopefully we’ll see many more of you for Brunches, Lunches and Saturday evening dinners before we change. 🥂❤️

Fancy tasting this Orange wine?

Sure, you’ve seen a little video about it a few weeks ago, but that was just an intro!

Our April wine tastings are coming to an end with this week’s 2nd session of Rosé tinted glasses finishing off an incredibly fun and delicious month of weekly tastings.

For May though we’ve got another great line up of weekly tastings. We’re just finalising the names and line ups with emails heading out to our subscribers later today but we’ll definitely be tasting Astley Vineyard ‘s Wild Madeline!

Our tastings aren’t just another way of showing off our wine selection. In fact it’s more so we can taste these wines side by side too! But also because we love sharing our knowledge of wines with hints and tips for you all to help you enjoy wine more and help you choose your next bottle, be it with us or your next trip to a local wine shop. As those of you who have come before know, Arthur is always happy to answer wine questions during the tasting sessions even when they’re pretty irrelevant to the topic.

So join us for a tasting, perhaps you’ll even surprise yourself with what you like! Tastings are where we learn by drinking 🥂

Earlier this week we finally had a chance to go and visit Devon Rum Co at their new HQ in sunny (for an hour 😅) Salcombe.

We first met these guys during lockdown in 2020 when. Giles came in with a bottle of their only rum at the time, the Premium Spiced. As soon as we tasted it there was one big shock!

There’s no Vanilla! It’s one of those sometimes blanketing but super popular spices for spiced rum but without it all the other spices come through and almost makes the rum taste “cleaner”. Anyway we were fans immediately and have been stocking Devon rum co rums ever since including all their new creations.

Ps. They’re officially carbon neutral too so you can help the 🌍 by choosing their rum!

It was just an experiment…

But it’s turned out pretty damn delicious!

Introducing AFC, Arthur’s fried chicken. 6-8 herbs and spices (lost count 😅) and marinated for 24 hours before dusting in a gluten free but hyper crispy and tasty coating, served with either a smokey bacconaise or a tobasco laced bacconaise!

Only small batches are made so don’t miss out!

Available today and makes an epic pairing with Prosecco or the Culver from ! 🥂

Sad news

Unfortunately Amy will undergo surgery on her knee tomorrow putting her out of action for at least a couple of months.

So unfortunately we will have to close Wednesday-Fridays until a suitable new team member is found. We will still be open as usual on Saturdays and Sundays as Sonia will endeavour to help out as much as possible.

Apologies for the inconveniences. Unfortunately it had to be a rather sudden decision but hopefully we find a new team member soon as we wish Amy a super speedy recovery and hopefully see her return for the summer! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Ps. All wine tastings on Friday evenings will continue as planned.

3 Devon Vineyards in 2 weeks!

With our two wine tasting dates for “Discovering English wines” we’ve been travelling around our local vineyards for the delicious wines!

Alder Vineyard sits on the edge of Dartmoor and on a beautiful sunny day you can see some of the tors whilst enjoying brunches or lunches at their award winning family run cafe. The wines here are fresh and delicate, perfect for sunny days and with summer time food

Sandridge Barton Wines is just on the outskirts of Paignton and is the new home of Sharpham wines, a beautiful location with the impressive Circa restaurant onsite too. The vast range of wines here means there’s something for everyone, with their Pinot Noir our choice for the tasting.

Huxbear Vineyard is just off the A38 by Finlake holiday park and they produce some of the best sparkling wines in Devon, especially their Blanc de Noir which was a favourite in last weeks tasting.

If you don’t have plans this summer, make a Devon vineyard tour a part of them!

So we will be CLOSED Wednesday 3rd April - Friday 5th April and re opening as usual on Saturday and Sunday.

Apologies for the inconveniences caused.

But we will see you for the weekend! 🥂❤️

🚨Customer Notice🚨

Please note we will be closed for a short break tomorrow (23/03) at 3pm so we can prepare for our Asian fusion evening event.

Massively looking forward to preparing all these dishes again and we hope those who missed out last time managed to book this time!

See you all tomorrow night 🥂❤️
(mass prepping has already started! 😵‍💫)

Ps. Top wine suggestions for tomorrow’s food? Go for something with a little residual sugar. Astley’s Freya or Nyetimber Demi sec for bubbles. The Gran maestro or Cycles gladiators for reds and whites, it’s gotta be the Weingut Reisling or Alsace Gewürztraminer.

Our fastest selling Bordeaux is back!

There’s a time for Margaux and Pomerol and they are just such an experience to drink. However there’s also a need for that easy drinking and easy on the wallet Bordeaux too.

The Chateau Maine-Pascaud is just that. Mostly Merlot but with that Bordeaux essential blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and with a touch of oak ageing it creates this balanced yet very drinkable level of complexity.

Delicious levels of black fruit with undertones of baking spices and cedar from the oak leading to a medium bodied palate that has structure but velvety tannins.

The best part… it’s only £11.50! And if you come in store and grab 6 we’ll give you £5 off!

Our Story

We’re Wine specialists (with a side passion for spirits too!) and a local cafe.

We’ve merged two passions, Wine and Food with a desire to create a friendly chilled atmosphere in what we like to call a Wine Cafe.

We started in autumn 2017 originally with a dream of being the place to go when looking for great value wines each personally chosen by Arthur our Wine Geek who is now WSET Level 3 qualified. However after 6 months it was clear we needed a high street presence to get going and when we found out the old Gossips cafe was available, a place Arthur frequented when he was growing up, we decided it was perfect, ideal in size and location!
