With the news that the St Giles centre is closing, we would like to assure anyone with gift vouchers for our retail shop that these will be honoured and extended by 6 months while we assess our options going forward.

Learning of the closure of the St Giles Shopping Centre was unexpected. We have decided that our last day of trading in our property at St Giles was Friday 10 January 2025. We are currently evaluating all our options to determine the best course of action.

We want to reassure our customers that we are actively developing contingency plans to continue serving our community and we will keep our customers updated as we progress.

Day FOUR of our 12 Days of Christmas goes back to our Distillery Labels range, a testament to the long-standing and unique relationships built over generations with Scotland's distillery owners. Each is available with FREE SHIPPING to any UK address.

Glentauchers 2008: Stewed apple, vanilla pod and cinnamon aromas. Pear, clove and tangerine flavours give way to aniseed. Medium bodied finish with lingering spice and walnut.

Glenburgie 21 Years Old: Stewed raisin and roasted hazelnut aromas combine with vanilla. Full and fruity on the palate with stewed apple, cinnamon and clove. A long finish with a subtle herbal edge.

Ardmore 2000: Blood orange, candied apple and vanilla aromas. Smoky and baked apple flavours combine with sweet orange zest. Light and medium bodied finish with lingering smoke.

Glenfarclas Millenium Decanter:

On the 1st January 2000, the new Millenium, The Grant Family and staff, selected only a few casks to be filled with the first spirit of the New Year. As far as we are aware, this is the only time this has happened. The cask chosen was a First Fill Sherry Butt from Jose Miguel Martin.

Only 600 of these decanters were filled with this precious whisky, bottled at 47.4 ABV and at natural colour. This 24-year-old whisky has been bottled from a Single Sherry Butt and is truly a rarity.

Our Story

When James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail announced the opening of their 'centrical and commodious premises' on South Street,Elgin, on 24th May 1895 they would be proud to see it still trading today. When you visit the shop you will be greeted with the aroma of home cooked local gammon, the largest selection of the finest cheeses available in North East Scotland and shelves packed with a fantastic array of high quality grocery products. Our delicatessen department stocks a range of cold meats, bacon, sausages and various continental delicacies. No visit to the Gordon & MacPhail store would be complete without a visit to the Whisky Room. Stocking around 1000 different single malt whiskies, the Whisky Room attracts customers from throughout the world to its crowded shelves. Browsing through the wide selection of whiskies, many of which are very old and extremely rare, you have entered the Aladdin’s Cave of whisky.
