Our buyers felt this was like a walk in the countryside with peat smoke in the air. It could be a great dram after a bracing January stroll.

"An immediately characterful old, peaty whisky with a whiff of funk on the nose. Farmy, with hints of stone fruit and crème brulee. Structured, creamy and a fresh sweetness on the palate. Quite long, gradually developing a subtle phenolic note which warms the mid palate towards a balanced sweet and peat finish."

A Sunday Whisky Video: The James Eadie Project 1927 Chapter 1 Ardnamurchan
In September of last year, Six of Scotland’s most innovative distilleries partnered with James Eadie to create a ground-breaking whisky collection, bringing nearly forgotten 1920s distillation techniques back to life. Project 1927 is the first collaboration of its kind, uniting independent distilleries across Scotland to revive century-old production methods, and is exclusive to Royal Mile Whiskies.

Crafted at Ardnamurchan, Dornoch, Holyrood, InchDairnie, Lochlea, and ‘An Unnamed Farm Distillery in the Heart of the Kingdom of Fife’, with assistance from renowned whisky expert Dave Broom and Alan Wi******er, former Master Distiller of The Glenlivet, the ground-breaking new make spirits were produced adhering to techniques derived from The Distillation of Whisky (the excellent book from the James Eadie team).

We were blown away by the knowledge, creativity and passion involved in Project 1927.

As part of this project, Whisky Writer Dave Broom and Master Distiller Alan Wi******er interviewed each of the distilleries involved in this project. In this first video, they interview Alex Bruce and Scott Stewart, Managing Director and Production Manager of Ardnamurchan Distillery about how they approached recreating a 1920s style whisky based on the book The Distillation of Whisky, 1927-1931.

A tasty James Eadie Blair Athol: Part of our Online January Sale https://rmwlink.co/jameseadieblairathol

Another excellent bottle we need to highlight in our January Sale. An independently bottled Blair Athol from the warehouses of James Eadie. This small batch single malt has matured for 12 years, including a finishing period in a refill sherry hogshead, before being bottled at cask strength, with no added colour or chill filtration.

Rare to see an older, sherry aged independent bottling of Glen Grant. Our Tasting Notes "A big oily nose reveals demerara sugar, pecans. A lovely, chewy old school dusty palate with tropical fruits, crispy meats, herbs and caramel"

Well, we can hardly believe it, but here we are, ready to first-foot our way into 2025! Before we get stuck into the celebrations, we just want to say a massive thank you.

To every one of you who shopped with us online or popped into our shop on the Royal Mile this year - thank you! Your support means everything to our independent business. It’s been a big year for us, and we wanted to share a few of our favourite highlights with you…

We released over 25 independent bottlings this year, handpicked by our buyers and from the feedback we receive, thoroughly enjoyed by you all. Your excitement has been brilliant to see, and we're so proud to have shared these with you.

Our sister shop Drinkmonger launched the very first Drinkmonger Spirits Festival – it was a massive hit, and 2025 tickets are already on sale if you fancy joining us.

Whisky Fringe 2024 was our biggest and best yet. Thank you so much to the attendees and suppliers who make it possible. We genuinely loved putting this event together (even if our feet didn’t) and spending the weekend with you all.

We partnered with our friends at James Eadie Whisky to exclusively retail Project 1927 – a project we’re so excited about and believe is doing some of the most fascinating stuff in whisky right now. We helped create a series of interviews with all the participating distillers which you can watch on James Eadie’s YouTube channel.

We organised our first-ever RMW Trade Show in Edinburgh and it was a resounding success. Plus, we hosted many excellent tastings and spirits training sessions. To finish the year, our Trade Manager, Duggie, was recently interviewed for a feature by SLTN.

Our sister shop, The Cigar Box, got fitted with a shiny new humidor – before we could only hold around 90 ci**rs and now we have space for around 300!

Here’s a few snaps from our recent team Christmas night out, a well-deserved chance to unwind after a busy year. It goes without saying, but none of the above would have been possible without our amazing team (the best in the biz!). The whole crew came together to enjoy some great food at Thamel Edinburgh and of course a wee dram (or a few).
