Today we waved off Joy Holmes who is "retiring" as a regular volunteer. We are grateful to all our volunteers who help to make the Colin Dyson Social Centre so welcoming and it is always sad to see them move on. Joy has a wonderful smile and she's not bad at dancing either! Thank you Joy xx

We drew our Christmas raffle today...a staggering Β£220 was raised so thank you to everyone that purchased tickets. Fundraising is an intrinsic part of the service we provide. Without fundraising and attqining grants the overheads of running a Centre like ours is costly as expenditure far outweighs our income. Thank you to all x
Pic is Jeff Jeffery Brown who successfully won first prize and two other prizes.
The donor of our hamper prize was Karvic cleaning services. We are extremely grateful for your kind support x

The Colin Dyson Centre (Age Concern Eastwood on Edward Rd, Eastwood) has availability for lunch Mon, Tues, Wed and Thurs for the over 60's. We've been providing a local service for Eastwood and the surrounding district since 1970 and hot cooked meal from the 80's. We are compliant with all government legislation, fully insured, have a five star food hygiene in line with Broxtowes regulations who check our premises on a yearly basis. We reside on Edward Rd and have the overheads of our wonderful Centre to cover so our services and our transport scheme isn't free sadly. But we offer a wonderful experience where you can meet and make new friends, have fun and entertainment together with a wholesome two course cooked meal with juice. Toast and beverage on arrival also.
Married couples welcome too. Entertainment once a week together with bingo for those that wish to partake. For those living alone and isolated we can arrange to pick you up with our transport scheme. We cover Eastwood and the surrounding district (Kimberley, Watnall, Giltbrook, Newthorpe and Langley Mill) and are open Monday to Thursday. Please ring Jo at the Centre on 01773 423100.
Christmas πŸŽ„ is on its way and so is Santa. We have three festive meals on the run up to Christmas with Santa in tow giving out gifts and a vocalist entertainer. Join us and enjoy your time in the company of like minded people x.
It would be much appreciated if you could spread the word .... if you know anyone that might benefit from our service please let them know. Thank you x

Edward Road (our street) will be closed for large scale surface patching from 9.30am on Wednesday 16th October through to 15.30 on Thursday 24th October. This is being managed by Nottinghamshire County Council (VIA Highways) and means that vehicles cannot drop off or park outside The Colin Dyson Centre while these works are going on. Diversion signs will tell drivers to access Edward Road from Lynn Croft or Barber Street. Bear in mind that your walk to our entrance will be longer than usual. If you get a lift from a taxi or relative think about bring a mobility aid to help you. Trustees should be on hand to help with wheelchairs or lend an arm for support when you arrive using the bus.
All most inconvenient but this work is essential road maintenance.
