Whiskymax präsentiert neue Releases von Lady of the Glen

Der unabhängige Abfüller Hannah Whisky Merchants mit Sitz an der Dalgety Bay in Schottland hat sich über die Jahre einen herausragenden Ruf erarbeitet – verfügt er doch über exzellente und mehrfach ausgezeichnete Whiskys, die u. a. unter dem Label „Lady of the Glen“ erscheinen.

Nach dem großen Erfolg der ersten beiden „Outruns“, wie es bei Lady of the Glen heißt, sind nun die Q3 Bottlings beim Deutschlandimporteur Whiskymax aus Mainhausen eingetroffen:

🥃Auchentoshan 16 Jahre – Ruby Port Finish – 55,7% ABV
Gereift in einem Refill-Hogshead und 17 Monate lang in einem First Fill Ex-Ruby-Port-Fass mit, das mit Noten von roter Fruchtsüße beeindruckt.

🥃Cambus 32 Jahre - Oloroso Butt – 47,6% ABV
Dieser immer seltener werdende Single Grain Whisky, der einst von Blendern sehr geschätzt wurde, reifte 32 Jahre lang in einem Ex-Oloroso-Fass, das 1993 geschlossen wurde.

🥃Caol Ila 11 Jahre – Rivesaltes Finish – 55,4% ABV
Ein torfiges Destillat, das in einem Refill-Hogshead gereift ist und über 2 Jahre in einem Rivesaltes-Fass von Giraud in Segonzac gefinished wurde, was ihm Noten von natürlicher Orangensüße, Mandarine und Fruchtkonfitüre verleiht.

🥃Inchgower 12 Jahre – Oloroso Finish – 59,3% ABV
Die Küstenlage dieser Brennerei verleiht dem wachsartigen und nussigen Destillat eine gewisse Frische. Gereift in einem HHD, bevor er für mehr als 3 Jahre in einem Ex-Oloroso-Fass mit Erstbefüllung aus der Hidalgo-Küferei reifte.

🥃Longmorn 13 Jahre – PX Finish – 58,2% ABV
Ein süßes und fruchtiges Destillat mit Toffeenoten. Er reifte in einem Fass und wurde 17 Monate lang in einem Ex-Pedro Ximenez HHD mit Erstbefüllung gelagert, was ihm Noten von Trockenfrüchten und Gewürzen verleiht.

🥃Strathmill 10 Jahre – Amarone Finish – 58,1% ABV
Ein süßes und fruchtiges Destillat mit deutlichen würzigen und blumigen Noten. Er reifte in einem HHD, bevor er über 5 Jahre lang in einem Ex-Amarone-Weinfass von Veneta Botti gelagert wurde.

🥃St. Bridgets Kirk Batch 3 – 48,5% ABV
Dieser außergewöhnliche Whisky wird auf eine ganz eigene Art und Weise hergestellt, indem Malt-Whiskies aus verschiedenen Brennereien und unterschiedlichen Spirituosenstilen miteinander vermischt werden. Jede Charge ist klein, maßgeschneidert und unterscheidet sich deutlich von der letzten. Er wird in im eigenen Lagerhaus gemischt, vermählt, abgefüllt und von Hand etikettiert, wobei keine künstliche Färbung oder Kältefiltration stattfindet.

Das verwendete Solera-System stammt ursprünglich aus der Sherry- und Portweinindustrie und besteht aus mehreren miteinander verbundenen Fässern. Wenn der Whisky aus dem letzten Fass entnommen wird, wird das erste Fass aufgefüllt. Die eigene Solera besteht aus einem Ex-Fino-Sherry-Viertel-Fass und zwei Ex-Oloroso-Viertel-Fässern. Der Whisky, der durch das System fließt, nimmt neue, tiefere Aromen aus diesen Fässern auf.

Grangemouth vs Dundee

The score line might not have went our way, but what a start to the season!

We had Dundee at home for the first game of the season. Dundee have been pushing for promotion for the last two years so it was always going to be a tough game, but the Grangemouth Ladies really took it to them.
Dominating most aspects of the game and with around 80% possession it should have been ours to win.
The first half Grangemouth kicked off and Dundee held the ball for phase after phase but couldn’t make ground past the solid Staggettes defence. The play pushed further into the Dundee half but Dundee scooted around the side and the pace was too much for the ladies to catch up. Try and conversion to Dundee, 0-7. After what seemed an endless resetting of a Dundee scrum and Grangemouth being asked by the ref to pick up scrum height because opposition couldn’t match. The Grangemouth forwards took it and after a few strong pick and gos Nicole dived and dotted down our first! 💪🏼 conversion missed. 5-7.
The rest of the first half saw strong play in Dundee’s 22 but unfortunately we couldn’t convert to points.
Second half brought much of the same, strong play and defence from the ladies, playing in Dundee’s half and after a few hits up the ball was passed to the wing and with her powerful runs and stepping, Betsy got over the line and put Grangemouth in the lead. Conversion missed, 10-7.
Dundee restarted and Grangemouth done their thing, picking it up and marching back into Dundees half. Penalty given to Grangemouth and an incredible kick to touch from Lauren saw us 10m out. Unfortunately the line out didn’t go to hand and Dundee stole the ball. Quick defence from Grangemouth resulted in a turned over ball, couple big phases saw us heading for the line but unfortunately one too many pick and go, and it got turned over. Few plays back and forth and a break was made from their winger. Unable to get hands on her, Dundee went over for another. 10-14.
Grangemouth had another opportunity not long after, but got held up over the line.
Most of the game was again played in Dundee’s half but unfortunately on another two occasions Dundee broke through and scored with conversions, taking the final score to 10-28.
A lot of positives for the Ladies to take from this game and it’s looking like it’s going to be one great season 💪🏼

Big shout out to for another great whisky festival. It was great to see many familiar faces and make some new friends too.

Paul had a great day showing most of our new quarter 3 outrun with the star of the show being our Longmorn 13yo.
The big bold and rich flavours from the ex-Pedro Ximenez hogshead balanced perfectly with this rarely seen Speyside spirit.

The sister cask Auchtentoshan is coming out in the next outrun with a Ruby Port finish

I’ve often struggled with the Auchentoshan core range but what about an indie bottled, single cask, finished in Tawny port?
