A very important date for your diary; don't miss the Macmillan Coffee Morning this coming Friday, 4th October at Urchfont Village Hall.

The event will be hosted by Urchfont Sewing and Craft Group and any donations for the stalls are very welcome.
Please support this great cause and enjoy catching up over a cup of tea and cake; don't forget too that it's a cash (or cheque) only event.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

It's a lovely day for collecting apples and we'd be delighted if you could donate them once again so that they can be pressed into our lovely Urchfont apple juice.

There will be apple buckets outside the community shop from Tuesday to Friday this week. 1st Urchfont Cubs will also collect from around the village on Thursday early evening.

It's a bit earlier than normal, but we're told that you may have apples that are already ready! And so if you could bring any that you may have to the shop over the next few days, we can start the apple pressing process earlier this year. Hopefully it'll be a bumper year.

We'll be collecting again soon but it'll be good to get things underway. If you can’t make it to the shop the 1st Urchfont Cubs will be collecting apples fom outside homes in Urchfont in September (dates to follows).

A very special evening tomorrow at The Merchant's House in Marlborough (a very special historic house on the High Street) 😊

The panelled room at The Merchant's House is so atmospheric that we couldn't imagine a better setting for a very special live event this Friday evening. Dr Andrew Rumsey (The Bishop of Ramsbury) will be here to entertain us in his inimitable style. Talking through extracts from his acclaimed book 'English Grounds' and performing music from his recently released album 'Evensongs'. It promises to be a very special evening.

Doors open at 7pm.

It's the weekend and the sun is shining and so what better way to start the day than with big breakfast at the Coffee Hub (outside the Community Shop). The bacon will be sizzling and the sausages popping ready for you to enjoy from 9.30 today....

We'll be serving bacon butties and hot dogs (with bacon and sausages from Lowerfields Farm), from 9.30am until 12 noon. Please come along and make it a special day. And of course you can have fresh coffee too from our Coffee Hub 😊

Urchfont Scarecrow Festival Charity

It's that time of year again. The bunting is going up, the doughnuts are ordered and the scarecrow is ready (well almost). This isn't a sneak peak😅but a reminder of our scarecrow last year. Not long now until we can unveil this year's creation. Please come along; it's a fun weekend.

Tuesday's and Friday's are always favourite days at the shop because we have a delivery of (often warm) bread from The Little Bakehousein Devizes. We just had to take picture today though because the large sourdough was an absolute delight; not only was it huge but it was also beautifully decorated. And of course it was doughnut day today too (Tuesday's we have lardy cake!).....they flew out of the door so quickly we weren't quick enough to take a picture of those too! 😅😀

Our lovely Volunteer Ian is a long way from Urchfont at the moment doing more good deeds. He's cycling 540km across Cambodia to raise money to install better kitchens and toilets for a school in Siem Reap 👏

He'll be the only one amongst us with a tan in time for Christmas!!

Thank you to everyone who came along on Saturday morning to sample some lovely new apple juice (thanks to 1st Urchfont Cubs & My Apple Juice who pressed it in record time), sausages, pasties, pies and pastries and also enjoyed a bacon sandwich (or two). The weather was brilliant which made for a great atmosphere and gave people time to have a catch up over breakfast!

The new apple juice has arrived (thanks to 1st Urchfont Cubs) and if you come along to the shop this Saturday, you can have a little taster. You will also be able to sample all sorts of flavoured sausages from Lowerfield Farm, Pies & Pasties from Sumbler Butchers in Marlborough and new pastries from The Little Bakehouse.

And from 10 - 12noon, we'll also be selling bacon baps!!!

Mrs Duck finished her stint at the phone box this morning and so she waddled around to the shop to see where all of her duck eggs go.....see if you can spot her when you pop in. She has a very happy vantage point 🥚🥚🥚
