So that’s it from us folks!

After nearly 13 years of trading, yesterday was the last day that our doors opened as 'Londis Culverhay Stores’.

It's been an incredible journey and we will tremendously miss all of our awesome customers. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your loyalty and for making it an absolute pleasure to welcome you into the store over the years.

We wish the new owners along with the team all the very best for the future and look forward to seeing you all about town.

With a heavy heart, we announce that, we have made the very difficult decision to sell Culverhay stores to embark and focus on the next chapter in our lives.

What initially we envisaged to be a short term project, we very quickly found ourselves welcomed and supported wholeheartly by the entire community. Cricklade not only became home to us but also somewhere we very much wanted to raise our family.

Over the past 13 years, the shop has seen immense highs but with that challenges too. Liverpool finally won a Premier League (Yay!), we grew as a business (and as a family!), we have gone through 3 full refits, 2 extensions, countless upgrades, a global pandemic, national supply shortages and a store burglary to name a few! But throughout all of this we feel we have built a business that we are extremely proud of, a place that is welcoming to shop in and also one that has been a community hub to many over the years.

But none of this would have been possible without the amazing team that is Culverhay stores, the continued support of our customers and our dedicated retail partners Londis.

To the team – thank you for the continued efforts and hard work that you have put in daily (364 days a year over 13 years is a LOT of days!), please know that it has always been recognised and greatly appreciated and thank you also for stepping in, rolling up your sleeves and saving the day on numerous occasions.

To our customers, both past and present – you truly have been awesome. Thank you for shopping local, for continually supporting a small family business and for being a pleasure to welcome into the store. We will deeply miss our daily interactions/banter and putting the world to rights with you all. Cricklade is a really wonderful town with equally fantastic residents and we consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to run a business here.

To Londis - A special and much deserved huge shout out to Rachel, Martin Cooke and Vince – thank you for your support over the last 13 years. Your everlasting guidance and advice has not only empowered us to grow as a business but it has also allowed for all the efforts to been recognised through the various awards the team have gratefully received.

To that end, finding the right people to hand our precious business over to was of the upmost importance to us. The new owners have a wealth of experience within the sector, having been hugely successful retailers for a number of years. Their own ethos mirrors ours in that they not only deeply value the importance of the shop to the community but they also recognise that the key to the continued success of the business sits ultimately with the team and therefore they will continue to retain all current staff as they take the business forward.

Over the next few weeks we will be tying up loose ends and we anticipate the handover to the new owners to be completed by the end of January.

We will continue to live in Cricklade and look forward to seeing you all out and about around the town.
