Tivoli Wines is an online and retail wine store based in the picturesque regency town of Cheltenham on the edge of the Cotswold Hills. There's been a wine shop at 56 Andover Road since the 1980s, and our Tina has been here more than half of that time. We believe in Quality, Value and Education. We refuse to sell wine of substandard quality; supermarkets exist to fulfil that purpose, and all of our

wines are tasted by the team before they hit the shelves. Value doesn't mean just paying as little as possible, it means getting the best quality wine possible for the money you want to spend. Most importantly, we want to educate our customers so that they can buy better. In November 2017, we opened The Wine Library above our shop in Cheltenham, offering 32 wines from Enomatic tasting machines and a further number of iconic fine wines including Chateau d'Yquem and Penfolds Grange from Coravin, so that customers can learn more about wine and their own tastes.

In between the copious amounts of rosé sold in the past week (🥵), we’re still celebrating Greek Wine Month! If you’re looking to pick up something you might not normally go for, or gift a wine that’s a little more interesting, Greece may be your answer.

Here we have two from Akrathos, a boutique winery nestled in the hills between the city of Thessaloniki and the historic Mount Athos.

• Assyrtiko, the most important Greek white variety. Complex aromas of lime, citrus blossom and peach on a background of mineral elements.
• Expressive Xinomavro. Silky tannins, lively acidity, complex fruit aromas and a subtle touch of oak. A wine that’s delicious now, though has the potential to evolve for many years to come.

Struggling to think of a gift for Father’s Day? Perhaps a ticket to our Mid-Weekers tasting event might do the job…

We all like to treat ourselves to a nice bottle when the weekend comes round, but more often than not we might fancy/need a little something mid-week to see us through. Wine Wednesdays and Thirsty Thursdays exist for a reason!

Most of us don’t really want to be opening something special or spend more than £15 to celebrate getting through the day, so this tasting is to highlight our favourite wines that fit that inexpensive mid-week bill.

A couple of new things in from … .vin Gamay a GoGo and Mambo Mai Mai.

A brightly-hued Gamay: giddy, dizzy fruits remain tethered to the earth by its fine-grained tannins. And a maceration of Muscadelle, softened over 8 months in amphora. A fleshy and savoury number, passionfruit and mango offset neatly by a linear, saline core.

It’s and the sun’s out 🙌 We’ve had a flurry of customers asking for chillable reds in the past week, so we’ve popped this one in the fridge ready to go.

Chasing Rabbits organic Grenache from South Africa, £17.49. Delicate violet, raspberry, and plum, with a sniff of dried herbs, this is light and bright with lots of juicy red fruits on the palate. The lively finish keeps your thirst quenched, and is at its best chilled with a picnic or BBQ in tow.

🚨 Calling all rum lovers! We welcome to the Tivoli Wines shelves. Unwrap and enjoy… 🥃

A premium blend of rums aged in ex-bourbon, white oak barrels for between 5 and 20 years. Idle Assembly is a luxury product crafted by a third generation family of rum blenders in Colombia, with rums from Trinidad, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and Panama. A tour of the Caribbean in a bottle.

“We set out to make a rum that wasn’t sweet, but that wouldn’t burn – something smooth and intriguing, much like a good first date. Although crafted to be drunk on its own or with ice, if we have learned anything, it is that excellent rum makes mixed drinks and even the most flamboyant cocktail taste better.”

To celebrate the UK’s first ever Greek Wine Month, we’re hosting a festival tasting to showcase our most exciting wines from Greece.

Greece boasts an extraordinary array of unique and distinctive terroirs, thanks to its varied topography and climate. The interplay between the majestic mountains and the extensive coastline creates a mosaic of altitudes, mesoclimates, aspects, and soil types, often within a single region.

Be it mountainous, volcanic, coastal or continental, this diversity is reflected in the character of Greek wines, all of which have a remarkable ability to convey a sense of place. Pair this with the wide array of indigenous grape varieties, and you begin to understand Greece’s unique and diverse wine industry.

From Macedonia to the Peloponnese, and from Assyrtiko to Agiorgitiko, there’ll be a lot to discover at this event.

We’re hosting a series of German tasting events next month. 🇩🇪🍷

First up is Pradikat + Friends on the 9th - an introduction to the wonders of German wine. Whether you know a little, a lot, or nothing at all about the wines of Germany, everyone’s welcome at this tasting.

Next up is a deep dive one the Mosel Valley on the 16th. The Mosel is Germany’s third biggest wine region in terms of area, but arguably its most important in terms of international prestige and dependence on viticulture.

Lastly, our German-Fest on the 24th, where we’ll be tasting a range of wines from various regions within Germany, giving a broader understanding of what this country has to offer.
